Tron Writers Set Up Ouija Board

Lost and Tron Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have joined hands with Platinum Dunes and Universal for a new Ouija Board film, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision Blog

Despite the involvement of the remake-happy Dunes though, this doesn't seem to be a revisit of the ropey and rickety Witchboard trilogy, but a new prospect. The studio are apparently treating it as "a supernatural action-adventure movie", and it's thought that several rules will play a large part in the story: never use the board alone; never use it in a graveyard; always say goodbye; never get it wet; never feed it after midnight.*

Incredibly, Despite its sinister reputation and its ancient origins as something supposedly genuine, the version of the Ouija Board most people know today is actually a variant of a commercial board game. The rights belong to Hasbro, who are also involved in the projected film. Transformers, Cabbage Patch Kids, My Little Pony, the Ouija Board. Which is the greater of these evils?

The last film to centre around a Ouija Board was the British teen horror Long Time Dead, so this can hardly be worse, and it's a writing team that ought to produce something interesting. The glass is drifting towards "might be okay". We'll keep you posted.

*Alright, not the last two.

Ouija Will Rock You
If they come up with something original and don't rip off "The Exorcist" too much, it could be interesting. Platinum Dunes are involved though and their horror films are unscary, unimaginative money-grabbers. The jury is still out on the merits of this one. ... Read More

Sounds Interesting
A film based around a board game. We've seen it before in movies such as Jumanji and Zathura. I wonder weather this'll be a family horror/comedy or a straight adult horror. I think both possibilitites sound interesting. ... Read More
