Willis Confirmed For Kane And Lynch
It's a buddy movie, with murderers!

He's been mooted in the role for a while but what sounds like confirmation that Bruce Willis will star in videogame adaptation Kane and Lynch, has come from an interview with producer Adrian Askarieh at Gamedaily.

Willis will play Adam 'Kane' Marcus, who in the game is a convicted murderer being bused to death row, when another inmate, James Seth Lynch, warns him that an escape plan is about to get underway. It turns out that it's not a rescue but a kidnapping by Kane's former employers, who want their money back, kickstarting a globetrotting action crime drama, with the twist that our heroes (especially Lynch) are about as sociopathic as the villains.

Askarieh claims that Willis called Kyle Ward's screenplay (Ward is also penning Hitman 2 for the same producers) "one of the best action scripts he's ever read", and boils the basic premise down to "the story of a mercenary teaming up with a schizophrenic psychopath to save his wife and daughter". Slightly alarmingly, he also calls it "a great buddy action movie". Just like Lethal Weapon! If Riggs and Murtaugh were on the other side of the law, and Riggs was fond of killing hostages...

Simon Crane (second unit on Tomb Raider and Troy) is directing. Shooting, which is planned (but not confirmed) to take place in South America, Europe and Louisiana, begins next March. Billy Bob Thornton had been rumoured for Lynch at one time or another, but Askarieh now says the role is "about to start casting". Thoughts?

Could it be...
Willis sounds like a good choice for the role of Kane. If it is going to be faithful to the game then it will have to be an 18 certificate movie. Not that this will be a bad thing, a lot of action films these days are too watered down. Tarantino films are mostly 18s and that does not stop people going to see them. I think Malkovich would be great for the role of Lynch as the role requires someone who can carry off edgy psycho, which he is a master of (like in Con-Air). More

L: UTB L: HAUTORI I may be mistaken, but didn't Willis say that he thought Die Hard 4 was the best of series. On this kind of evidence, him saying that this screenplay is "one of the best action scripts he's ever read" does not bode well. Don't get me wrong. Willis is undoubtedly action movie royalty, but for now, colour me "Meh". He's hardly going to say "yeah go see Die Hard 4.0. It's not as good as the rest, though." oint taken. Kane & Lynch
If its the video game I'm thinking of, I've seen the box cover. Nick Cave would be perfect casting, he looks like the dude anyway - I've seen him hanging around Brighton many times. Daniel Day Lewis would also be a good choice. More

Kane & Kim
Kim Newman would be perfect for the role of Lynch, he's got the hair, the beard (well...kind of), and he is pretty much mental cause' he does the dungeon section of the magazine (you'd have to be insane to sit through all of them shite films). More

RE: Hitman?
I enjoyed the game, despite it's problems. But the movie is bound to end up as a watered down, rated 15 flick, especially if Bruce Willis is involved. There is just no way a studio is going to pay a big star to be in an ultra violent, ultra sweary movie, which will only appeal to a select audience, or fans of the game. Shame. More

I hear the main problem of "Kane and Lynch" the game was that it was a transparent attempt to make something that could be adapted into a movie, rather than working as a game in itself. So maybe that means the movie will work out better. Or maybe this too will fall to the VIDEO GAME MOVIE CURSE~! More

RE:
ly enjoyed the game for all its faults, mainly due to that t does feel like a Michael Mann movie.   Its also one of the most profanity filled game next to Grand Theft Auto I've ever played (I cant remember a single bit of dialogue that did have the word "fuck" in it). That alone, and the great premise, should deliver a dark, hard-edged buddy heist movie unless its getting watered down.   The Mickey Rouke rumour would be class.  Both of them being let off the leash going a More
