Ne-Yo Set For Battle: Los Angeles
Rapper Joins Eckhart for sci-fi war film

Ne-Yo gets closer to movie as well as R'n'B stardom as he signs up for a role in Battle: Los Angeles, the sci-fi war movie that Jonathan Liebesman is directing. Sure, he already appeared in two movies - Step Up 2 The Streets and Stomp The Yard - but since this one (presumably) won't feature dancing, it's a breakthrough of sorts.

The film sees Aaron Eckart play a Marine Sergeant leading his platoon against invading aliens in the streets of Los Angeles. Michelle Rodriguez and now Ne-Yo play corporals in the platoon, along with Ramon Rodriguez (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen), Taylor Handley (Southland) and Cory Hardrict (Gran Torino).

Jadin Gould, Bryce Cass and Joey King have also signed on as shooting begins, joining Michael Pena - who plays the father of a boy the Marines find along the way - and Bridget Monahan, who plays a vet. As in veterinarian, not veteran.

Shooting starts this week in Shreveport, Louisiana*. Bring on the invading aliens!

*Is it wrong that after binging on True Blood last week our automatic reaction to that is, "Oh, the home of Fangtasia"?
