The Wolfman Trailer Has Arrived
Watch out for bites in the moonlight

20 August 2009  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: Yahoo

submit to reddit

It has been much delayed, but at long last the release of The Wolfman is approaching, and to prove it here's a new trailer with bonus clothes-ripping transformations and extra helpings of howling.

Benicio del Toro takes the role once played by Lon Cheney, as the man bitten by a wild beast who finds his life taking a turn for the hairy. He's returned home to find his brother dead, his brother's fiancee (Emily Blunt) deep in mourning and his father, well, Anthony Hopkins. Judging from this trailer, not only are the locals not terribly pleased to see him, but he's got Elrond of Scotland Yard on his tail in the shape of Hugo Weaving as well.

The Wolfman is currently due for release next February 12 (and yes, we're having some deja vu) so fingers crossed there'll be no more delays. Bring on the big hairy Benicio already (oo-er).

If you fancy the hi-def version, head on over to Yahoo! Movies.

Loving that shot of a dark and stormy Tower Bridge. Oh, and in regard to Hugo Weaving, I prefer to think of the hilarity of the Smith voice saying "Mistuur Baaginns". Always makes me chuckle. Excited about the Wolfman getting his growl on again though. More

Raw Material.
A friend of mine saw footage of this (I think at last year's Movie Con) and it was just rushes and the cinematography blew his mind - but then he found out that since then it had been really heavily over-graded and the blacks crushed. And now I see that it is true - really disappointing, basically makes it look like an Underworld film, not a beautiful piece of cinema. Here's hope they hastily re-grade before release! More

L: Jasper_29 You have to wonder if Hugo Weaving can ever play another character again without people expecting him to say "Mr. Anderson....". He was good in V for Vendetta, but you didn't actually see his face. es, yes, and thrice yes. ALL the way through LOTR I mentally added on "Mr Anderson..." at the end of every line Elrond spoke: "The man who can wield the power of this sword can summon to him an army more deadly than any that walks this earth. L: chickabee I like the look of this, the cast is good, always love a bit of Hugo Weaving, although did anyone else notice that Benicio had a non-english accent unlike everyone else, is it too much to ask for that everyone speak the same accent of the location. ou probably won't read this now, but there is a reason for this, if it follows the 1941 original, and if you are referring to Del Toro having an American accent. Lon Chaney Jr (Del Toro in this one), in the original is the e More

Is there really a point in this film? I mean, we all know the werewolf story (man gets bit, kills lover, finds redemption, the end) - what is this film going to bring to the table? More

Thank the titty-badgering christ!
I have been fervently hoping that all the issues this film has had haven't affected it; I love the original and with the talent both in front of the camera and behind it (effects-wise) this could be great. And lo and behold it looks pretty fricking awesome! More

Hopkins seems to be in fine Lecter form. Great cast on the whole and it seems to be a rare thing in remakes - faithfull to the original. Although I doubt the transformation scene will beat An American Werewolf in Londons's one. More

Avatar Vs Wolf Man
Last night I saw the Avatar trailer and was awe struck, it looked frickin amazing. Now though having seen the Wolf Man Avatar just looks like standard run of the mill CG hokum. Now I hate the idea of re-makes and that ilk but this looks awesome!! I'm glad they didn't remove all the bipedal wolfman stuff like I read about a while back and not too much CG which is even better (CG has its place, but not a whole movie made in a computer). Hmmm...
I'd have happily settled for a teaser as opposed to most of the story jammed into a rather messy three minutes...there's now an utter lack of suspense, and surely they should be keeping the transforming effects for the film itself? Given the huge delay there's been, you do have to wonder if they've actually got any decent footage left for the film itself NOT in the trailer... More
