Tomorrow is Avatar Day, which makes today Avatar Eve, the time when Father Cameron gears up to slip some treats under the tree, including, at 3pm GST this afternoon, the theatrical trailer.
20th Century Fox has got the party started early with these new character stills and a picture showing off the awesome firepower boasted by SecFor, the private contractors who protect the interests of Resources Development Alliance (RDA) on Pandora. RDA exploits the planet's wealth of natural resources via its consciousness-transferring avatar programme, and judging by these shots of Samson and Hornet choppers, and the mahoosive Dragon gunship, they're pretty well looked after.
Also pictured are Sam Worthington as Avatar's disabled ex-Marine Jake Cully; Stephen Lang as SecFor's Col. Miles Quaritch (looking like he's had his hair cut by Wolverine); Giovanni Ribisi as SecFor administrator Carter Selfridge; and Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Grace Augustine, the scientist who plays a key role in RDA's revolutionary avatar programme.
In more Avatar-y news, Rick Carter, the man partially responsible for its unique look and feel, is lined up to receive the best production designer award at this year's Hollywood Awards. In a few hours, we'll find out why...
