Billy Crudup To Eat, Pray, Love
Doc Manhattan comes down to Earth

31 July 2009  |  Written by Owen Williams  |  Source: Variety

Billy Crudup, who swung through Watchmen as blue giant Jon Osterman and was last seen as J. Edgar Hoover in Public Enemies, has joined the cast of Eat, Pray, Love, alongside Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem, according, yet again, to Variety.

Elizabeth Gilbert's Oprah-approved mind-body-and-spirit memoir chronicles the author's post-divorce travels around Italy, India and Indonesia, trying out new foods, religions, and luurves, in that order.

The movie has been set up at Paramount by Nip/Tuck's creator Ryan Murphy (who's directing) and Brad Pitt's Plan B production company.

Roberts plays the author, and Crudup will be playing the potentially rather thankless role of Steven, the husband she ditches to go wandering. We assume he's not hard up for work though, so he must see something in it.  Shooting starts next week.
