Russell Crowe Plans Next Three Days

Our predictions for the Oscars 2011 are firming up, with the news that Russell Crowe has lined up The Next Three Days with writer/director Paul Haggis. Yes, that's Oscar-winner Russell Crowe, working with the writer-director of Crash, on what we're told is a remake of Cesar-nominated film Pour Elle.

The story sees a schoolteacher (Crowe) determined to rescue his wife, who has been arrested and imprisoned for a crime she didn't commit.

Said Haggis to Variety, "The deeper theme here is, would you save the woman you loved if you knew that by doing so, you would turn into a man that woman could no longer love?" Intriguing stuff.

Shooting will start in Pittsburgh in September, after Crowe has wrapped on Robin Hood with Ridley Scott, so expect to see this come awards season 2010.
