Exclusive New Prince Of Persia Images
Sands Of Time is slippery when wet

27 July 2009  |  Written by Emily Phillips

It isn't just us mere mortals getting soggy this rainy Monday morning, as these new shots from Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time prove.

Getting a little bit carried away trying to cool down in the arid Middle Eastern sun, our Prince Dastan, played by the brooding Jake Gyllenhaal, along with the sultry Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) are shown here drenched from head to foot, and then escaping on horseback still soaking wet.

We also have shots from on set, with director Mike Newell sizing up his subjects and super-producer Jerry Bruckheimer watching on.

Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time, also stars Sir Ben Kingsley doing his best Evil Sultan as the coniving Nizam, as well as Toby 'Dead Man's Shoes' Kebbel and Alfred 'Doc Ock' Molina. The film is due on our decidedly unsunny shores on May 28 2010.

RE: Exclusive New Prince Of Persia Images
Bruckheimer is like the movie producer version of Chuck Norris, about a 1000 years old but still looking the same way he did in the early 80s (from a distance at least). The pics from the film look pretty nice. More

RE: jesus..
L: jameswhaleofatime that first pic is downright pornographic- Jake's hairy chest and wet shirt and Gemma's ample bosom- I'm gonna have to sit on my hands... amn, it really does. Or a fashion ad where great looking white people are placed in the middle of an exotic scene with everything exaggerated (the open shirt, wet hair, ect.) As for the film...I'm still very skeptical. I'm sorry but Jake Gyllenhaul is as white bread, all American as you can get. No matter what kinda hair an More

RE: Racism?!
L: chewbacca27 I don't see many asian men in TV shows, movies, TV ads, posters, banners etc. It is all dominated by white and black men. So why should the role of Dastan go to someone of asian origin - does not make sense to me. The role had to go to a white or black person. hat's because we're unappealing, get with the program. More

Umm, no.
I hate to rain on your hate parade, pj2012, but the Persian Empire was mainly located in what is now modern day Iran, and the Persian Gulf (I assume this is what you mean by Persian Sea) is immediately adjacent to Iran, which is an Arab nation, and Saudi Arabia. Whether you wish to argue that the Persian Empire of sixth-century A.D. could be accurately described as Arab or peopled with Arab-looking people, could be possible, but you seem mainly concerned with being angry and idiotic. Blaah!
Go Hollywood! Not only did they casted the white guy in the role of arab. They had to cast the whitest guy of them all: Jake Gyllenhaal! Well who cares anyway. All video game based movies are crap and this Bruckheimer produced kiddie romp won't be any exception. More

Racism?!
Why not have an arabian lead actor and an indian lead actress for these roles? Who is to blame? Studios or the viewing public the studios fear would shun a film cast in such a way?! Discuss..... More

I loved Prince of Persia: Sands of Time when it came out on the ps2 some years back. Great story too, hope they can stay true to it. In the game the princess is Indian and from the photo of Gemma and Jake sitting on a horse, there's a statue of the god Ganesh in the background which indicates that the princess is probably Indian too in this one. Gemma looks great, but not sure if the makers of this one are gonna be fooling anyone in thinking that Jake is Persian or Gemma is Indian. At least G More
