Third Bridget Jones Film In Development
Open your diaries as Zellweger returns

15 July 2009  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: Variety

Hold on to your granny pants and brace yourselves: a third Bridget Jones movie is in development, and it looks as though Renee Zellweger will return to the role of the desperate 30-something as she continues to pratfall her way through life.

The quicker-witted among you will currently be thinking, "Hang on! I thought there were only two books?" Well, you're not wrong - but there are further developments. Author Helen Fielding wrote a further series of columns about Jones in The Independent in 2005 or so, which saw our heroine attempting to get pregnant while she still could, and not quite managing to kick either Mark Darcy (Colin Firth maybe) or Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant maybe) to the kerb.

But it's all very early days: production isn't likely to start until the end of next year, meaning that we won't see this until late 2011 at the earliest. No writer or director is attached yet, but given the massive success of the franchise to date, and recent successes like Sex and the City and Mamma Mia!, we doubt they'll have much trouble finding talent.

RE: Third Bridget Jones Film In Development
If you exist God i'll believe in you and go to church and read the bible, i'll even go watch a film with James Corden as a romantic lead... Anything you ask just PLEEEAAASSSEE put a stop to this film being made! I did it twice so i already deserve an oscar for best supporting actor, sitting there with my mrs and not headbutting the screen whenever twat Grant and the other posh bloke fight over Lemon head, whilst all the women in the audience high five and laugh at the shitty non existent jo More

RE: Third Bridget Jones Film In Development
When I heard this news, I struggled to put a brave face on it but in the end I had to climb into an open sewer and bury myself under the toilet-business of the people of Great Britain for the weekend to get away from the horribility. Even this didn’t help so I set fire to my shoes to distract me from the awfulness. Still no relief, and now my feet hurt. More

one thing I hate even more than these films about this fat, talentless, cheating waste of space ... is the number of women out there who love her character, identify with her and even think of her as a 'role model'. It's as depressing as hearing primary kids say they want to be like Jade Goody when they grow up. So, all the comedy fun of IVF and another ridiculous fight between the two guys ... and some more shots of her falling over, sorry, did I spoil the film for anyone? More

L: PeterHJ313 The most important question: will Dr Baltar be in it?? e'd better be. Then again, he might have too many guest roles in American TV shows on the go. I wonder if this time they won't just remake the first film again. More

RE: poor renee
L: satan666 sad when your career is in the shit sp; say RZ is on a bad run I agree, but to say her career is in the shit, I think's it's a bit unfair, she just needs to stop doing rom-com's and get back to serious acting which she is so capable of.... oh... now I see.... More
