New Dario Argento Trailer Online
Adrien Brody stars in Giallo

Are you a horror fan? Are you tired of sequels and remakes? Then you need a dose of Dario Argento, who may be covering familiar ground but is at least doing so with original scripts. Check out the trailer for Giallo here.

As you'll see, it's an English-language Italian serial killer thriller, with Brody as police inspector Enzo Avolfi: an Italian-American, judging by the accent. Emmanuelle Seigner (The Ninth Gate) also stars.

We don't want to hear the words "torture porn": Argento is an auteur, all right? And Giallo, as well as being the title of the film, is also the genre (crime thrillers with a lot of really bloody murders, named from the yellow covers of the novels that inspired them) that Argento helped popularise. So if it is torture porn, it's self-referential postmodern torture porn.  So that's alright then. That said, we can't exactly vouch for this just yet, if this entry into the Empire blog is anything to go by.

Giallo premiered at Edinburgh last month, and will also screen at  Frightfest in August.

RE: A bad joke
I too saw Giallo at Edinburgh and yes it wasnt his best film by a mile. Interesting that he appears to have disowned it   and to answer Frank Castles question Yes he has made a good film, actually some great films, Phantom & Mother of tears probably not the best 2 to watch. Suspiria, Tenebra, Profondo Rosso, Crystal Plumage...there ive given you 4 to choose from More

A bad joke
I saw Giallo in Edinburg the other week. It was, well, just terrible. The plot was so thin as to be invisible, the villian (a sort of mutant Rocky - played it seems by Adrien Brody in latex) was laughable and the whole thing was unintentionally hilarious. Argento has apparently disowned it so it's possibly not his fault it's as bad as it is. Still my mate that I saw it with is possibly his biggest fan and he was abosulutely raging at it. I was very disappointed in it and I didn't really have a More
