New Carriers Trailer Online
Captain Kirk fightin' zombies?

03 July 2009  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: Trailer Addict

It's been sitting on the shelf for a couple of years, which is not usually a good sign, but the disease / paranoia / horror / thriller Carriers actually looks rather good, based on this new trailer.

The premise is all laid out pretty thoroughly in the trailer, which sees four friends, including Star Trek's Chris Pine and, er, Coyote Ugly's Piper Perabo, on the run to safety after an apocalyptic plague sweeps the world. With clearly laid-out rules for survival, the quartet think they've got things figured out - until it becomes clear that their methods are not infallible, and that the danger may be worse than they thought.

A cynic might think that this was shelved until the release of Star Trek made Pine a star, but in any case we're encouraged by this new trailer (we missed an earlier, similar one that came out on a busier news day). It's got a September 4 release date in the US: barring the swine flu epidemic destroying civilisation, hopefully we'll see it here after that.

RE: Shatner fighting zombies?!
Watched it last night in the sneak preview in cinema: tp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0806203/]CarriersThe first thing that came to my mind when the film began: "hey, Swine flu - the movie. that`s quick!" Looking back at it, that`s probably not enough credit for it. After the first 20 minutes you think that you`re dealing with your average cliché virus/horror flick. But at about 45 minutes into it that turns and it becomes an exciting, well made film with Chris Pine delivering one hell of a More

Looks great
You don't have to be a cynic to believe this was indeed held back till Chris Pine got famous, to get the most of this straight to DVD movie. It's a good one so I look forward to seeing this on a big screen instead of my telly with a a few pints. I just know this won't have a happy ending... More

Looks ok
It doesn't look like anything original or groundbreaking but it does look like a good Friday night out film. Far from cashing in on Star Trek, it could just as easily cash in on the swine flu pandemic. More
