Exclusive: Bullock Was Never Expendable
There's always Expendables 2...

03 July 2009  |  Written by Emily Phillips

Sandra Bullock is back in the spotlight this month, playing the evil boss to Ryan Reynolds loveable publishing assistant in The Proposal. But what Empire really wanted know at last night's gala screening at the Mayfair Hotel was whatever happened to her supposed role in Sylvester Stallone's uber-action-fest The Expendables. And it seems that Sandra wasn't muscle-bound enough to make Sly's crew, as she certainly didn't get the memo: “I don’t know where that came from. I never read the script, I didn’t even know what the script was about. But now that I know what it’s about, I’m excited for him.”

It seems that plotting a return to action, a la Speed, isn't an easy job, although she would like to skirt explosions once more: “Absolutely, but finding a good one is not easy."

So Bullock is committed to comedy for the moment, with crossword-puzzler-com All About Steve up next, followed by another string of laffers in the next year. The Proposal is out on July 22.

Note to Bullock: get a few tats like hubby Jesse James, and you might just make The Expendables 2.
