Chris Columbus Talks Goonies 2

Sci Fi Wire is reporting that writer Chris Columbus is hopeful of reuniting the original Goonies cast - just like Empire did a couple of months ago!

This time though, it would be for an actual movie. Director Richard Donner has apparently already talked about it with original Fratelli sibling Joe Pantoliano (which is interesting because it suggests the same villains as before), and with the 25th anniversary looming, the time is ripe.

There's been talk of Goonies projects here and there for years. We reported a mooted animated series two years ago. This time, Columbus is talking about some generational torch-passing: "I think the only way it could be done is if the kids are now the parents, and their kids have become the Goonies."

There's also the problem of the way society has changed, providing all too easy technological get-out-of-jail-free cards: "You can't go anywhere near a computer or cell phone. Maybe if all the parents in the new movie forbid their kids to play on the Internet, that's gotta be the plot."

So, a challenge for you on a sunny Wednesday morning: pitch us a plot for Goonies 2: The New Batch, and give us a cast of new kids while you're about it. The rules: no cellphones and no internet. And it must not, must not suck.

Seriously Bad Idea.
Chris heres an idea, instead of having new kids, keep old cast, all of them. Their kids are maybe taken hostage by the Fratellis (excluding the mother obviously, RIP) and the parents aka the Goonies have to go and save their kids, thats basically the moral to it all, with Ku having his gadget, chunk and mouth doing their stuf, along with Mike, and his brother would make a enjoyable family movie, plus keeps the old faces all the way through ... Read More
