Alvin & The Chipmunks 2 Trailer Online
We are NOT calling it the Squeakquel...

Big day for trailers today, what with Couples Retreat and The Informant! both hitting the web streets. But they don’t come any bigger than this: the teaser for Alvin And The Chipmunks 2.

Yes, we know that Fox and Mr. Chirpy Voiceover Guy insist that the film’s official title is Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, but we’re not going to play their sick little game. We let them get away with making up ‘quadrilogy’ when they were flogging all the Alien movies on DVD a few years back, and Lord knows that we’ve coined a few of our own nonsense words in our time (videblogisode, anyone?). But we absolutely draw the line at ‘squeakquel’.

Anyway, to the teaser itself. After a semi-neat gag involving the 20th Century Fox fanfare – but, y’know, with chipmunks singing along – the only action we get to see is an encounter, in what appears to be chipmunk school, between the first film’s heroes, Alvin, Simon and Theodore and three eyelash-batting chipmunk hotties, the Chipettes.

So this time, Alvin and his pals fall in love. Which is nice. However, we’re sure that director Betty Thomas will think of the children, and our sanity, and stop short of showing actual CG chipmunk rutting. Also not shown in this trailer: anything approaching a plot, star Jason Lee struggling to hold onto his dignity, or any reasons to see the movie.

Of course, what do we know? The first film made oodles and oodles and oodles of cash, and so will this. And it could turn out to be the greatest film ever made. If that happens, we’ll happily call Alvin And The Chipmunks 2 anything that Fox wants us to.

Click here to have your world rocked and your eyeballs caressed by the teaser for Alvin And The Chipmunks 2.

I feel I have to support this because Zachary Levi made me a sandwich back in April. Therefore I owe him for that and will force myself to sit through this. With earplugs. Weeping whenever my eyes are open. More
