American Werewolf In London Again The horror remake juggernaut rolls on Source: Bloody Disgusting
Bloody Disgusting are reporting that John Landis has sold the remake rights for An American Werewolf in London to Dimension films, the 'genre' offshoot of the Weinsteins' Miramax.
The question is, are we looking at a potential "American Werewolf in..." franchise? Remaking the first movie seems like a horrendous idea, but if it leads to better sequels than An American Werewolf in Paris then maybe we'll look the other way for the time being.
Dimension are behind the Rob Zombie Halloween films (part 2 is out in August) and are currently battling with revolving-door directors on a remake of Hellraiser (Alexandre Bustillo, Julien Maury and Pascal Laugier have already been and gone).
Are Dimension the new Platinum Dunes?
Do we need another Platinum Dunes?
But if you're a horror fan sick of recycled series, take heart. Lionsgate's totally original The Haunting in Connecticut did so surprisingly well at the box office that The Haunting in New York and The Haunting in Georgia are now in the works.
Dietrich, I could not agrre more with your comments, but i think you missed out the most important part of what that new scene will have in it besides the CGI werewolf . Instead of the suspense in the scene generated by the silence, I think it will be replaced the obligitatory woman running away screaming as loud as she can.....clearly suspense is no longer good enough, frequent and loud screaming is the way forward!!!!!! ... to quote Forrest Gump "that's all I have to say about that."
This is a terrible idea. The film is a classic and should not be tinkered with.
Mark my words, if the remake rights for Jaws aren't locked in a safe somewhere, guarded by Terminators with robot attack dogs, some twonk who thinks he/she can 'do better' will start scouting locations around Marthas Vinyard (except they'll probably relocate it to LA cuz it's easier!)
For Godsake, leave movies alone - go and think of somethi... Read More

What the hell are they doing!
There is no way it can better the original so what is the point!? ... Read More
Remaking a classic film that can not be bettered is a horrible idea. It was truly groundbreaking and was the film that inspired Michael Jackson to make the Thriller video. I can just see the terrifying camera movement up the tube escalator being replaced by a CGI werewolf - naff!!! The original has just been remastered. Why not show it in cinemas nationwide instead of just Leicester Square and Los Angeles??? ... Read More
What the hell ever happened to originality?
What happened to new and creative ideas?
Story telling in 21st century has gone down the drain and no-one of late can come up with some new and not already done.
Remakes just seem to be an easy way for production to make more money, its as simple as that.
Retards.
