Last Airbender Teaser Trailer Revealed First glimpse of Shyamalan's epic
It's a year away yet, but we now have our first glimpse of M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender.
Not too much to see yet, bar some nifty staff-wielding from newcomer Noah Ringer in a clifftop monastary, and a fleet of ships shooting fire. But it gives a good idea of the look and scale of the thing, which is certainly very different to anything else on Shyamalan's CV so far.
As you'll know by now, Airbender is based on a Nickelodeon animation that cleverly mashed up traditions from Anime and US cartoons. It ran for three seasons and sixty-odd episodes between 2005 and 2008, and follows the adventures of a group of element manipulators (earth, wind, water) against the evil Fire Lord.
Shyamalan needs a box office hit. Has he found it?
The bottom line is that kids and young teens will go to see this, because they know and love the series. They won't be so hung up about the director having a few movies that weren't very good. ... Read More
..if there is actually nothing noteworthy. The key word here is PROBABLY? Are you 'haters' the same bunch of morons that slagged of Terminator Salvation before a single storyboard, was well, storyboarded? If so, can we have public retraction of all your yeah, yeah, bullsh*t? Thanks! ... Read More
The cartoon is so perfect I was unamused when I heard they were making a live action movie, and unamused when I heard Shyamalan was making it. When I first saw the teaser trailer I half thought it was a joke - it just looks a bit silly. It looks like they're just suping up the drama and action and there's nothing that made Avatar so lovely. But it's just a very short teaser trailer, so I'm crossing my fingers the movie won't go down that route. ... Read More
I agree it looks cool.
My kids love the cartoon, presumably the Avatar/Cameron clash is why they've changed the title. Putting Shyamalan's name at the top is pretty dangerous though, can he do decent action/spectacle? ... Read More
I'd love to meet the genius who has let Shyamalan direct aother film after Lady in the Water & The Happening.
This will be rubbish... in fact, the intel advert before it looked to be in the hands of a more competent director.

Whenever I see something like that I always feel sorry for the poor bastard who had to light all the candles, probably some work experience kid who did it before going to buy some tartan paint. ... Read More
ooks very good!
With his bad reoutation and all, when he makes a good movie, it's good.
Let's hope that's the case for TLA.
I'd hate to see the adaptation of one of the greatest animated tv series get all crappy.
Which it won't.... i hope,
And Noah does remind me of Aang.
Besides, it's a cartoon character. It can't really have all the similarities.
Just give it a chance.
I'm sure it'll be a great success!
