Brand New G.I. Joe TV Spot Online
Plus five new rubber-clad character art

18 June 2009  |  Written by Emily Phillips  |  Source: YouTube

Yes, there is a reason to be at your desks on a sunny Thursday morning. Second only to be sitting in front of a television, this is the place you need to be to view the brand new G.I. Joe: The Rise Of The Cobra trailer which has made its way online.

With just over a month and a half to wait until the August 7 release of Stephen 'Mummy' Sommers' film, it is time to get G.I.gee-ed up about the tautly togged task force which includes Sienna Miller as The Baroness, Channing Tatum as Duke, Marlon Wayans as Ripcord, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cobra Commander and Dennis Quaid as General Hawk. The film also stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Heavy Duty, Christopher Eccleston as Destro, Byung Hun Lee as Storm Shadow, Rachel Nichols as Shana 'Scarlett' O'Hara, Ray Park as Snake Eyes and Said Taghmaoui as Breaker.

Looks like this could be the new Thunderbirds. Or is it a live-action Team America? You decide...

Check out the G.I. Joe: The Rise Of The Cobra TV trailer on YouTube.

Also online today are five new character one-sheets to fully appreciate the crack-team in their kevlar suited glory.

G.I. No - Rise of Cobrarse
This has 1* written all over it. Even though I loathed the Mummy films I was half looking forward to this, but after the trailers and posters? No thanks. Most of the promotional material seems to focus on Sienna Millers arse in black leather, that's still not enough to tempt me into a dark room for 2 hours. More

G.I. Joe
Fuck Yeah! The French must be overjoyed that G.I. Joe showed up at the last minute to save them from the baddies. Still to early for the States to be making films about being the world's policemen methinks. Maybe G.I. Joe 2 could be set in Afghanistan or something. Because the Yanks really sorted the situation out over there, didn't they? More

Hmmm
Looks like a bit of fun I think. Glad to see they explained the stupid 'jumping through the train' bit at the end of the trailer, couldn't work out the point of that when I watched it in the first trailer. And yeah, of all the national monuments in the world, i can't understand WHY they chose the effiel tower, as if Team America comparrisons weren't going to be made anyway. But what worries me most is that I'm going to be sitting through a film where the bad-guys are not COBRA, but COBBRA, and t More

Disaster
I heard on the grapevine (my company's involved in the marketing) that Stephen Sommers has been fired because the film is so bad and it's being hastily re-edited for it's US release this weekend....should be good then. Definitely looks like an oh so serious version of Team America! More

Cheeeeeeese!!
This might possibly be the cheesiest film ever made. I'll watch it when it's free on Sky. How do these actors deliver the lines without laughing. More

It's hard to even watch the scene where the Eiffel Tower is destroyed (with what looks like snot) without thinking of Team America! Can't wait. This could be this summer's comedy hit! More

G.I. Joe
Saw the trailer last night and even though it's probably gonna be pants plot wise - the action looks cool. I'm gonna see it! More

This is definitely going to be like a live-action Team America, except without the ironry. .utter crap. More

It'll be a laugh, you will probably give it 3, more likely 2, and it will make a respectable amount. More
