A big fat disgrace
Here we go again. Another classic that shouldn't be touched and which still stands up anyway, another pointless remake. The excuse Hollywood always gives for this is always that there's a whole new generation who don't know the originals, well why don't they go and discover them? I own plenty of old films on dvd like the 1930's version of King Kong, The Third Man, Hammer Horror movies etc which were made well before i was born but i discovered them all through tv or through reading Empire (whe More

Whatever the film turns out to be I'm hoping with the Scott bros as producers they will keep some creative control over it rather than Fox! Also Rinsch may have done some pretty amazing tv adverts but I hope he can do more than create some nice visuals! The franchise has lost it's way and it needs to get back to the nightmarish psychological terror of the first film rather than the more action orientated sequels and please NO CGI! The concept of the first film was 'sometimes More

While it's understandable to be annoyed if the suits in Hollywood decide to reboot/remake/"reimagine" your favourite film, but you don't have to watch it. You still have the original. That said, this seems to be a pretty poor idea, though a prequel is more appealing than a remake. Arg hit the nail on the head when he said Rothman seems rather intent on making a sublime cockup of all of the good stuff Fox did already. More

OMG
Well let me say i can't wait for this one i love the fact that hollywood is a cash cow minded load of old toss in fact i think they should follow this up with a remake of Goonies, Back to the Future, Ferris Buellers day off, Flashdance, The Conversation, 3 days of the Condor, Star Wars, Jaws, THX 1138 and er erm ok Duel and when they've done this i'll be justified in saying UK, European and Asian Cinema rocks and Hollywood sucks a big fat donkey.......... | Terrible idea just leave it alone |
Whats next? remaking Jaws or the Terminator or Star Wars??? Fucking stupid idea!
What happens when there is nothing left to remake or reimagine? are we then going to see remakes of remakes? It's like the "new originals" all over again.
Instead of remaking the classics, why don't they just re release the originals? It would be cheaper for a start.

Curiousity vs Common Sense......
99% of any remake turn out as-at best- a pale imitation, or a total catastrophe. We hae waited in anticipation for so many of these films, hoping for the best. It quite simply has been curiouslty getting the better of us, deep down we know we will be let down, The movie moguls are laughing at us, rehashing old ideas, destroying classic films and making money. THey should invest in new talented writers and film makers. Hearing Tony Scotts comments for the reasons why he has re-made "Pelham More

Alien Continuation
Remakes of perfect films are a bad idea. The original Alien doesn't look dated in the slightest. I would much prefer a new Alien film based in the existing universe, but without Ripley. Ripley is dead for crying out loud. I'd like to see new characters. When she's involved, Sigourney Weaver always wants to be an executive producer with the story focusing on her. She just doesn't get it. She's worse that Shatner wanting to be Kirk again! To tell you the truth, I'd like to see Fox get some balls a More

Make it STOP!!!
Seriously, this is getting silly.
And, before anyone breathes a sigh of relief, remember that even though the Brothers Scott are attached (apparently) this doesn't stop it being crap - remember Tim Burton Producing Batman Forever, anyone?
Fact is, attached names can and do change, especially with the Alien franchise. At one point Alien 3 was going to be directed by Cameron, and written by William Gibson. The next dream collaboration, Cameron AND Scott, died a death after the AvP came about.

If its a remake......why? Just why?
If its a prequel .....how? Are they gonna make the lead character an elephant faced alien, who probably wont speak english seeing how humans were'nt around? What will the dialougue consist of other than the hissing of the aliens? Are the producers intending to re-write the history so that humans dicover aliens sooner in order to get around this problem, there by suggesting that everybody in Alien and Aliens was suffering from amnesia when they sent the Nost More

If they want to do something with the Alien franchise, why not continue Ripley's story. There's plenty of scope there especially with the concept of the Aliens finally making it to Earth (I'm ignoring the pile of shite AvP franchise deliberately, it doesn't exist in my timeline). Wasn't there something mooted a couple of years back? More

If its a remake Hollywood can shove it up its ass.
Firstly I'm tired of remakes and secondly hollywood seems to have lost all its originality over the past couple of years...................................
If its an origin story then why bother. Who here thinks the elephantine traveller spoke English on his travels or had any human compatriots?? What story are you going to tell?? We know what they do, how they do it and the fact thaty they are not personable.
Why not just got and make More

I had a strong feeling Fox would remake Alien.
Alien like the Terminator are perfect films. Yes they are dated but that part of their charm. Fox seccessfully killed off Alien and Predator with AVPR. Fox approved a god awful script, gave it a small budget and got newbs to direct the film. They couldn't give a fucking damn. yes the film studios aim is to make money but at least attempt to make good movies. Fox bring out what people want to see but cut many corners like the 85 minutes runnin More

Initially, I met this idea with hostility, and I'm not keen on origin stories to be honest- especially when not knowing where this monster came from or what it really is, is well, part of the terror. It's one of the finest horrors ever made, and the sequels had their pro's too... I would welcome a revisit to the quality Alien movies (not the recent turgid crossover efforts) but a remake? Not needed. Like Predator, what's the point? Alien is head and shoulders above Predator in the movie stakes, More

Why remake? There are plenty of books out there that have great story lines. Colonial Marines was a great story that ran in the Dark Horse comic series, Aliens. Pick up any of the Aliens Omnibus books and take your pick of story lines. The prequel thing sucks. I have always found, with the books, that the explanation of the Space Jockey was crap, it was all a big plan to get the Aliens to earth and destroy it, the space jockeys race are telepathic and can commun More

Alien wasn't created by Ridley Scott. I know he had a lot to do with the look and style of the piece but the story/script was by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett. Of course everyone knows that H.R.Giger did pretty much all the design work on the look of the alien... Ridley Scott came in to direct a concept and story that was already in place. It just irks me that Dan O'Bannon hardly ever gets the credit he sorely deserves for creating Alien. More

RE: Alien Remake In The Works...?
Tell me this is some kind of sick joke? Fox, please, if you're going to make another Alien film, get the dreamteam of Cameron and Scott together (pipe dreams I know), or at least one of them directing/doing the script. This will just end up being a bloody awful shot-for-shot remake with some porn actress taking the role of Ripley. The only re-imagining part of it will be that its utter shit. Damn I hate Fox, who have already desecrated this franchise with Alien: Erection and those bloody awful More

But everyone will know it's coming. In the original only John, Riddley and the effects guys knew that shit was coming. More
