John Stockwell To Direct Roadkill
Action comedy about two private eyes

28 May 2009  |  Written by Chris Hewitt

John Stockwell, whose place in movie heaven shall forever be assured for Into The Blue alone, has signed on to direct the action comedy Roadkill.

That’s not to be confused, of course, with the excellent Paul Walker/Steve Zahn/John Dahl thriller, Roadkill, from a few years ago. That movie was titled Joyride for the States and was renamed for the UK. We’d quite like it if Stockwell’s Roadkill were renamed Joyride, to be honest…

But we digress. The film tells the story of two amateur private eyes who bite off more than they can chew when they agree to protect a high-end escort. What follows – including female assassins and a potential government conspiracy – tests them to the hilt.

Sounds pretty routine to us. Stockwell, despite the majesty of Into The Blue, hasn’t yet directed a movie that’s even come close to touching four-star territory, but we’ll keep an open mind on this one, as we’re suckers for a good action comedy.

Nick Ball and John Niven wrote the movie, which will be produced and funded by Bill Perkins, through his company Lleju Prods.
