Cliffhanger Reboot In The Works
Wait, what? Reboot how?

Cliffhanger Reboot In The Works

Wait, was Cliffhanger a franchise and no one told us? Because producer Neal Moritz is in Cannes at the moment, and he's planning a reboot: "Just as they rebooted Star Trek, we're going to reboot Cliffhanger" he announced. So, what: a time warp is going to change Sylvester Stallone's whole destiny?

But no, this reboot of the Renny Harlin film will centre on a group of young climbers, not a huge, muscly man in an Aran jumper. We're also told that, while the original was filmed with Italy standing in for the Colorado Rockies, this one will feature "multiple cliff-face locations". We're not sure if that means there'll be some sort of globe-trotting mountain-climbing challenge, but we kinda hope not.

But there's no screenwriter attached just yet, and Moritz is still looking for a screenwriter prior to a 2010 shoot, so it could turn out to be awesome. After all, no one expected the first one to be as good as it was. One question though: is John Lithgow available to reprise the bad guy role?

Your Comments
I suffered an embarrassing moment watching Cliffhanger while pissed with a girl who'd never seen it before. Namely, bursting into loud man tears when Frank dies. Gets you every damn time. Reboot? It won't be the same if Travis is lugging around an iPhone with 'Treasury Hunter' app; it smacks of the guys from Orange Communications film department... ... Read More

To reiterate what everybody else is saying; this film does not need to happen. The time for bastardising 'Die Hard' is or should be over by now and what are they thinking replacing Gabe, Hal and that John Watson bloke with 'young climbers,' and who can do justice to John Lithgow's camp bad guy? ... Read More

Reboot this!?!?
I hear that Hollywood is going to reboot the story of Christ next because they are getting so hard up on original stories. Apparently Jesus is going to be from the Bronx & kick Vin Diesel's ass by using his intimate knowledge of kung-fu & slow-motion bullet time skills. The only difference is that this time Jesus is played by a woman in her 20's trying to spread the word of Kabala! Did I also mention that Lindsay Lohan is set to star? Seriously though, enough with all this remkae & ... Read More

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!
**CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR CLIFFHANGER** Cliffhanger is one of my favourite throwaway action movies. The cinematography is stunning, and action is pretty damn good, and it's got some suitable corny dialogue. They can't better this, and there's absolutely no reason to. Plus, how would they ever top Cliffhanger's emotional high, where John Walton is killed in cold blood?! ... Read More

RE: Spoilers much?
L: DeadBelushi You have no idea how much she HASN'T ruined the film for you. She has given virtually nothing away. Go see Star Trek and you'll see how insignificant her comment was. Seriously. Why do I see so many people constantly attacking the writers of this site/magazine? There's virtually an attack on every news item. sp; I don't imagine it really a spoiler, but all the same, don't you find it frustrating when people discuss plot details of films you haven't seen?  And this c... Read More
