New Basterds Poster Online
Til Schweiger is Inglourious

11 May 2009  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: SlashFilm

The Inglourious Basterds character posters continue to trickle out. Last week we saw Diane Kruger's Bridget Von Hammersmark, and before that Brad Pitt's Aldo Raines and Eli Roth's Donnie Donowitz. Now it's the turn of Til Schweiger, who plays Sgt. Hugo Stiglitz in the Quentin Tarantino film.

Now with a name like Schweiger, and indeed a character name like Stiglitz, you might assume that this guy's a Nazi (an appalling assumption to make, we might add). But no, he's a German-born psychopath recruited by the Basterds to kill Nazis, apparently a "strange and solitary" character. He's named after Mex-ploitation actor (and indeed Mexican actor) Hugo Stiglitz in a typically Tarantino-esque nod.

The film's out on August 21 in the UK and US but will premiere at Cannes in just over a week.

First! ... I'm a basterd.
Eli Roth looks like he's enjoying himself too much in that poster. Having directed the horribly sadistic and gory Hostel films, I'd say he's a bit of a sadist in real life. The film looks great though! Vive la renaissance of Tarantino's career! More
