First Look At Dead Of Night
Supes' Brandon Routh as Dylan Dog

07 May 2009  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: Shock Till You Drop

Brandon Routh's follow-up breakthrough after Superman Returns has been a long time coming, but from the looks of these first pictures from Dead Of Night, wherein Routh plays supernatural detective Dylan Dog, this could be it.

The story's based on the horror comics by Tiziani Sclavi, named after Dylan Dog. He's a sort of "nightmare investigator", whose job takes him into contact with ghouls and ghosts and monsters in general. Sam Huntingdon plays his zombie sidekick Marcus, and a first picture of him was also posted today on Movieweb.

Also starring in the film are Taye Diggs, Peter Stormare, Anita Briem and Kurt Angle. Kevin Munroe, of TMNT, is directing, with the film currently shooting in New Orleans. Fingers crossed that this finally allows Routh, a thoroughly nice man, to escape the curse of Superman.

RE: Production Blog
As a big Brandon Routh fan, I'm really looking forward to this!   BTW, for those interested, there is a re-release of the Dylan Dog Case Files book in English; it contains 7 stories and more than 600 pages.  Very well written stories and fun. So recommend it,   www.amazon.com/Dylan-Dog-Case-Files/dp/1595822062/ref=p d_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239693074&s r=8-1 More

No Groucho?!
As a huge fan of the comics, reading them whenever I am Italy, this is exciting (also, thank you Companero for heads up on Rupert Everett adventure, did not know that existed) but... where is Groucho??! And who is this Zombie sidekick Marcus? In the comics, Dylan's sidekick is, bizarrely, Groucho Marx, who peppers the dark humour of the stories with marvellous idiocies and is on hand as an occasional gun throwing deus ex machina to get Dylan out of tight spots. I can see how he would be hard to More

Dylan Dog
Be interesting to see what they do with this - there was an Italian film--DELLAMORTE DELLAMORE aka CEMETERY MAN--made in 1993 based on the comics with Rupert Everett. A lot of people gave it some stick but I think it's a surreal treat. More

Not-So-Super Man Returns
He should stick to playing bit roles until he's able to act. Made more of an impression in Zack and Miri as a gay porn star.    Edit - 'gay' as an insult it apparently only acceptable on a Chris Moyles radio show. Not on here.   More
