Exclusive: Feige On Marvel's Plans
He talks Avengers, Thor and more...

Kevin Feige's the President of Production at Marvel Studios, aka the Guy Who Knows All about upcoming Marvel films like Thor and The Avengers. When we spoke to him recently, we asked about both.

“We will probably be having cast announcements in the next month or so on Thor," he told us. "We’re looking to cast Loki and Odin soon, and the main female role. And we’ll also hopefully have lockdown shortly, gearing towards the beginning of production, which will be early next year. So I think there will be a lot of announcements between now and then."

"But [director Kenneth] Branagh’s here, we’re prepping, and he’s put together some spectacular animatics already for our first action scene. We’re digging into the second and third now, and we are just embarking on a rewrite of the draft."

And The Avengers?

"Zak Penn is already on board The Avengers [as writer] and he’s spending a lot of his time looking into what we’re doing with Iron Man, Thor and Captain America, seeing how we’re tying it all together. And he’s beginning to outline the script now – he’ll be doing that over the summer."

"All of the Marvel movies leading up to The Avengers will be based in our new facility in Manhattan Beach, in LA. There will be location work that will take us out occasionally, but our home base will always be here. "

So that's the current state of play on the two Marvel-tastic properties. For more from Feige on Iron Man 2 and beyond, check out the next issue of Empire.

L: JIm R wait for Thor, if they, and given Branagh is at helm, I think they will, present a fantasy film with comic elements, really bring the spiritual, otherworld aspects to it, Lord of the Rngs scale fantasy to it all.t="trebuchet ms"] hope they do it this way as well. And then when Thor shows up on Earth in the Avenegrs, it will be all the more jarring that a Norse god is walking among the heroes. I think the audience will buy-in to the character more if the stand alone film is p More

RE: Exclusive: Feige On Marvel's Plans
Turns out that DC's Green Lantern is going to open on the exact same day as Marvel's Thor. Busy weekend for fanboys, and then Cap the next month! 2011 will be the year of the superhero movie (or will that forever be 2008?). More

RE: Exclusive: Feige On Marvel's Plans
]We will see the Avengers film before we see the hulk sequel. In the hulk sequel the main villian will be the Leader which was pre empted ofcourse in the film. However in the Avengers film there is talk of having ]Hulk going up against Ironman which would be very sweet indeed... More

RE: More Incredible Hulk please
Absolutely - in fact I find myself watching that movie even more than "Iron Man." Just a perfect telling of the Hulk story. I'd love to see the Hulk utilised in "The Avengers" - maybe as a pawn of the bad guys, a distraction for the team to take down while the real villainy (the Krulls? Loki?) goes undetected. As "The Ultimates" showed, a team vs. Hulk throw-down makes for a great action sequence. And who could resist the line "Hulk smash Freddy Prinze Jr.!!!!"... More

Of all the guys to put in charge of writing the Big One. He hasn't done anything worthwhile since he got carried through the X2 screenplay by like 18 other guys. More

Cant wait
very excited about any marvel news at the mo, cant wait to see the cast for these films. I mean Captain America and Thor are huge characters enjoying great success with their current comics so theres alotta presure to get the casting right. If they even come close to RDJ's Tony Stark i'll be one happy fan boy. And I cant wait to see someone get smaked in the face by a live action mjolnir! thats gonna be freakin' amazing! More
