Slade To Helm Antarctic Horror Cold Skin
Squeezing it in before Eclipse

Twilight Saga: Eclipse and Hard Candy director David Slade is packing them in, lining up an icy psychological thriller Cold Skin to shoot in March 2010, just before becoming the third helmer to take on Stephanie Meyer's vamp teen romance.

Taking some elements of Slade's snow-set screamfest 30 Days Of Night, Cold Skin is set on an Antarctic island and focuses on a lonely weather monitoring outpost that comes under seige from a pack of humanoid amphibian predators. The screenplay was adapted from the bestselling Spanish novel of the same name by Albert Sanchez Pinol. 28 Weeks Later writer Jesus Olmo is turning it into a screenplay. The CGI effects laden movie is set to have a budget of $25 million.

It seems that the dark, cold, lonely Antarctic is the place to be for psychological thrillers these days, as Kate Beckinsale's Whiteout, which follows a US cop investigating a murder in the snow as the long period of "night" sets in, is due in cinemas in September.

That Kate Beckinsale thing sounds like the opposite of Insomnia - dark instead of light, female cop instead of Al Pacino. Yawn More
