Bruno Gets An R Rating After All And new, hilarious pics go online
Despite rumours that Bruno, Sacha Baron Cohen’s new comedy, might be awarded an NC-17 – the kiss of death, box office-wise – in the States, we can all relax: the film has officially been given an R.
It’s believed that Bruno, a fake documentary in which Cohen plays a super-gay Austrian fashion journalist who travels across the States, causing mayhem and provoking outrage wherever he goes, was re-edited and resubmitted to the MPAA, the joyless bar stewards who wanted to give it an NC-17 in the first place. That would have meant that many cinema chains would have refused to show the film, and many newspapers wouldn't have carried advertising for it.
Now, though, the movie can be seen by pretty much anyone under the age of 17 in the States, as long as they’re accompanied by a guardian. Which means, given the hype surrounding Bruno, that the way is clear for it to match and possibly even exceed the cash raked in by Cohen’s last movie, Borat. And good for him.
To celebrate this wonderful news, why not take a gander at the hilarious pics of Bruno that have just been released onto the internets? Very Attitudey, and very, very funny.
...whether or not the whole NC-17 thing was a hoax or not? When the 'bad news' came out, half the internet wne apeshit, the other half treated it as a publicity stunt.
It certainly seems like the sort of thing that Baron Cohen and his PR team would conjure up, and it's a very astute method for gaining attention for the film. But who actually knows the truth?
I'm not believing anything until I see proof. Once we see the run time passed by the bbfc (which will, surely, be the full run time o... Read More
The American Censors don't have a problem with violence but anything to do with sex upsets them. I'd imagine that the sex no doubt mentioned by the 'gay' Bruno will upset them even more. The beaver shot in 'Basic Instinct' was cut in the USA but uncut here. I doubt 'Bruno' will be cut here.

Agreed. If this is coming to Britain in it's censored form then shame on them. I want to see the full uncut version too, although guessing that it might be a marketing scam and we'll have to wait for the Even Gayer Version on DVD!!?? Plus, what I really want to know is... is that a wig or Sacha's real hair cos f**k me he looks damn hot! ... Read More
Okay, so they've got the R rating in America. What about here in ole Blighty? I don't want the edited version so that under 17s can watch it, I want the full un-censored un-edited filthy version of Bruno rated 18 thanks.
The R rating is crazy, many films rated 'R' shouldn't be seen by those under 17 anyway - although many I don't have a problem with either. Why is Amercia so scared of an adult rating? More films should be embracing the NC-17 rating - like Ang Lee's autionle of years ... Read More
