Drew Barrymore To Eclipse Twilight?
By directing third installment of series

27 February 2009  |  Written by Emily Phillips  |  Source: Entertainment Weekly

Pattinson's Angels here we come - Drew Barrymore is apparently in the line-up of potential directors for the third installment of Stephenie Meyers' teen-blood-lust-romance series, Eclipse.

Not satisfied with having switched directors once already - with Twilight's Catherine Hardwicke traded up for Chris Weitz for New Moon - producers are developing the hell out of the franchise in order to get it all made before the perenially perfect vampires wither in real life.

The date has already been set for Eclipse's release on June 30 2010, which means that there is just a little over a year to get it scripted, cast, made and edited - so messing around with new directors may just be asking for trouble. Plus the product of Weitz's spoils are yet to be seen- with New Moon not due until the end of November 2009.

But with Barrymore having just wrapped her directorial debut Whip It! with Juno straight-talker Ellen Page, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive that she could be in line to take the helm for the hottest (or coldest) teen franchise of the moment.

So could Drew be the woman to take the Cullens in hand and capture the fizzling chemistry between Bella and Edward? It's not like they've never been kissed - Stephenie Meyers allowed them that at least!
