Black Freighter Trailer Online
The Watchmen comic-within-a-comic

Tales Of The Black Freighter, the bleak-as-the-apocalypse comic-book vignette within Watchmen, is being released on DVD as a companion piece to the main feature, and MTV has a short trailer to give a taste of what the animated story will look like.

Click here to check out the trailer. If you're outside the US, you'll need to click on the HD link to view it.

Tales Of The Black Freighter is not cheery stuff - black is definitely the operative word - and by the looks of this, there hasn't been much gingering up from the graphic novel, as the Gerard Butler-voiced Mariner's corpse raft shows. Blue Peter has nothing on this guy when it comes to working with what's handy.

Tales Of The Black Freighter hits our shelves on April 6 in DVD and Blue-ray format, weighing in at about 22 minutes. Also included is a 36-minute pseudo-documentary looking at Nite Owl's autobiography, Under The Hood.

Uh-Oh
I remember these kinds of shenannigans going on with the Matrix sequels (Animatrix and Enter the Matrix) and they basically became an excuse for poor writing and cinema. I suppose this has more right to be a companion piece, but when taken out of context, it's a little redundant and yet more evidence that this should have been a longer mini-series. I'm still get the feeling that this will be a Match of the Day version of it, just editted highlights like Dune and the some of the Harry Potter fil More

Where to look to download
Look under the video window to the right you will see the letters HD and then 720p. Click on the 720p and a new quicktime window will open. To be honest it doesn't show you very much. maybe 5 to 10 seconds of the cartoon. The rest is an Adonis like advert for Watchman the comic. I'd almost wished I hadn't bothered. More

Sweet!
After trying and trying to get the trailer working on MTV's site, I had to try Youtube and that's where I finally saw it. It looks sweet and Gerard Butler sounds perfect in a voice-over, actully qutie nice to his scottish burr! I so can't wait for this, why April? The movie isn't out until March so why wait a another month for this? A little cheeky but I'll shall pre-order it soon! More
