New Watchmen Track Online
My Chemical Romance does Dylan

04 February 2009  |  Written by Tom Ambrose  |  Source: Kerrang

With Watchmen nearing release, we thought we'd bring you news of the new video for My Chemical Romance's single from the film, a cover of Bob Dylan's Desolation Row, which has just gone up online here.

The song from the emo rockers appears on the film's soundtrack, and is out as a single on Monday. While references to the movie in this video are not exactly overt - this is no Everything I Do (I Do It For You) with half the film on show. That said, there's a Rorschach pattern behind the band on stage, and the police outside are dressed in the old-fashioned uniforms of the film.

Expect to hear this over the end credits when Watchmen comes out on March 6, and on a radio near you between now and then.

RE:
ng to see a film that even acknowledges the existance of those f@cking teenybopper sponge-rock make-up wearing assholes.. p; You know, overreacting like this makes you look like a bit of an emo...e's this power ballad in Heat that annoys the crap out of me, but does that make it a movie not worth seeing? Don't think so. And that plays during the movie, not over the f*ing credits... More

RE: WTF!!?
I love it, and I love that burly bastard Gerard Way. MCR blow my mind, they're like Queen and The Sex Pistols combined, but far better than both. When I go and see it I'll be wearing my MCR T-shirt, smiley pin badge and a Rorschach mask. AWESOME!!st hope this song's playing when they all confront each other at the end, if that's the case it'll make it at least 5 times better than the Graphic Novel. More

RE: WTF!!?
(Sits back, places hands behind head and lets out a lovely smug sound, as if just drunk a cool Lemonade on a hot day) AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Nothing like it is there? Hopefully they'll cover an Elvis track for the opening and a Lennon track for the montage. Looks like there's more than one rape in this "Masterpiece" now! More

WTF!!?
I was already worried about this film, after already hearing they changed the ending... And the constant talk of shortening of the running time... But now... I neednt worry about it,because i aint gonna see it. I dont care if its just at the credits... Not going to see a film that even acknowledges the existance of those f@cking teenybopper sponge-rock make-up wearing assholes.. Elmwood2309 is right, seen some proper pale,eye-shadowed wankers wearin joker t-shirts the last few months, this will More

Wow...
So hollywood is managing to ruin two classics in one? No wonder Alan Moore hates those fucking big wigs. Being a massive fan of both Watchmen and Bob Dylan I find this the most disgraceful cover of a Dylan classic i've hurt my own ears listening to. Why can i see the emo followers wearing Rorschach badges just like they did with Joker. Hollywood.. for all the producers and writers its not about the quality of film anymore its about the quantity of teh cash in their wallets. More

So what about the song, the film is still gonna be class and the soundtrack too Unforgettable (Nat King Cole) The Times They Are A-Changin' (Bob Dylan) The Sound Of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel) Me & Bobby McGee (Janis Joplin) I'm Your Boogie Man (KC & The Sunshine Band) You're My Thrill (Billie Holiday) Pruit Igoe & Prophecies (Philip Glass) Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen) All Along The Watchtower (Jimi Hendrix) Ride of the Valkyries (Budapest Symphony Orchest More

Everyone getting all huffy, it's a song from the soundtrack.... it won't affect the style and subtext of the actual movie.. like Empire said it'll be on the credits  More

This will play over the end credits, so while it's a dumb move (just use the original), at least we can walk out during it without missing the film. More

Oh well I thought it looked good for a while but looks like it's gonna be shit. I can't see this restoring Moore's faith More

I thought ...
... you said that Watchmen was already a work of genius? I didn't realize I was going to be sold a pop single! Isn't this sort of cr*p exactly what Alan Moore's work was supposed to subvert? Is Snyder painting by numbers, or is he a studio pawn doing exactly what he's been told to? More
