New Transformers Toys Revealed! Exclusive: First look at Soundwave
Michael Bay's Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen is due out this summer, but if you just can't wait until June 26, here's a sneak peak at two of the new toys for the movie, which give a bit of a hint at the characters we'll be seeing.
Admittedly, we've seen the friendly Autobot Bumblebee - the yellow Camaro that befriended Shia LaBeouf's Sam Witwicky in the 2007 original - before, but he's got a nice, shiny overhaul for the seconjd outing with a new front spoiler, cupholders, an 8-CD changer and plenty of room in the back for those long journeys.
But the second new toy is Soundwave, a dastardly Decepticon who almost made it into the first film, only to have his Transforming trademark (he turns into a cassette player) given to Frenzy. Still, Soundwave is something of a fan favourite and he has made it in this time around ,with something of an upgrade. The logical progression would have been to turn him into an MP3 player, but Bay and his team have instead turned Soundwave into a jet. A supersonic one, we're guessing.

People seriously want one of the new bad guy robots to turn into some sort of CD player?
Seriously?

Yeah, the whole „cool war machinery” angle has already been done in the first one! Make them turn into things like washing machines or lawnmowers this time! ... Read More

Frenzy didn't mass shift.
He was a few feet tall and transformed into a tape deck. He had a fight and was mangled down to just his head (and or torso). Then he transformed into the phone.

I will consider myself schooled in Trasnformers lore then! I do appreciate there have been several (crapier) recent CGI versions of the transformers a bit like Power Rangers in various context but I think it's fair to say the reason this Trasnformers movie was made and has the mass apeal it does is because of the iconic 80's versions. Anyway I didn't know he was supposed to be a communications satelite... that's relevant to his role I guess. Just so long as they don't go messing around wi... Read More
Good Lord it looks like things have gone to hell since I first signed in this morning. Making Soundwave into a telecommunications satelite seems perfectly valid to me.
HE IS NOT GOING TO BE A JET PEOPLE!
Well spoken LeChuck all valid points!!! 'Indy shooting Lazerbeams out of his eyes'. I nearly spat my coffee at my computer screen in the office then!!

Fair enough to an extent but Megatron was basically a flying cannon of some description, Soundwave the jet doesn't even have a tentative link to the charcter it's based on. Like I said if it's not workable then it's not workable, just consign them to contexual drawing board. Besides if Bay was so worried about continuity to scale case how could he explain Frenzy transfroming into a mobile phone?
ell, one mistake you're making here is thinking... Read More
