Knightley And Farrell Walk London Blvd
Screenwriter Monahan directing

Keira Knightley and Colin Farrell have signed up for London Boulevard, the directorial debut from screenwriter William Monahan. He's the man behind Kingdom of Heaven, The Departed and Body of Lies, so let's hope he picked something up from Ridley Scott and Martin Scorsese.

The story sees a South London criminal called Mitchell (Farrell, hopefully with his own accent and not a Sarrff Lahndahn one) released from prison after serving three years for an assault he doesn't remember committing. He gets set up as a live-in handyman to a young actress (Knightley, we're guessing), but after tangling with a loan shark finds that he's pissing off half the people he meets and the rest are turning up dead.

It's based on the book by Ken Bruen, with Monahan adapting the script. The film will shoot this summer in London, after Farrell finishes work on The Way Back and Knightley makes Last Night and The Beautiful And Damned.

Taz69, Where is Your Optimism?
Previous productions involving the talented Miss Knightley have received much praise such as the '5-star' film Atonement. She tends to appear in period drama after period drama - perhaps a little diversity is what her CV is lacking. Although one is not sure as to how good a director Mr Monahan is, he definitely possesses the ability to write a '5-star' screenplay (N.B. The Departed). Undoubtedly, one might add, such ingredients (Knightley, Monahan - hey! Even Farrell) make for one delicious More

Ken Bruen
Wow. This is cool. I have read some of Ken's books -- mostly the Galway city based ones. I'd recommend "The Guards" to anyone. I must go off and read this one now. Ken is Irish so maybe Colin's character is also Irish.... More
