Chris Evans Joins Scott Pilgrim
Playing an evil ex-boyfriend

19 January 2009  |  Written by Chris Hewitt  |  Source: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/39799

Well, the cast for Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim Vs The World just got a little hotter, with news that former Human Torch Chris Evans has signed on.

Evans – who has long since become famous enough for us to lose the traditional (no, not that one) after his name – will play skateboarder-turned-movie star Lucas Lee, one of the seven evil exes that Pilgrim (Michael Cera) must overcome before he can win the heart of his true love, Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead).

He shows up in the second volume of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s graphic novel series – the one titled, funnily enough, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World – but we’re not sure yet whether his role has been expanded for the movie. Given that Evans is comfortably the biggest star in the cast to date, we’d expect so.

Certainly, the casting for Wright’s first post-Pegg movie has been pretty flawless so far, even if it might be initially hard to swallow the notion that Michael Cera is an upgrade over Chris Evans. The fact that Scott Pilgrim is funny/sweet/cool/charming, and Lucas Lee is an unrepentant and vainglorious dickhead might help matters.

For Evans, the role should give him a chance to further show off the acting chops that he’s displayed in the likes of Danny Boyle’s Sunshine and Street Kings. One thing’s for sure – it should be a world away from his last experience with a comic book adaptation…

Superb...
But please don't put Ellen Fucking Page in it, she is absolutely unbearable to watch. Especially in fucking Juno. The new book is out in Feb. Can't wait. More

RE:
That's really good casting in my view. I wish they'd hurry up and get Ellen Page for Kim I think she'd be perfect for the role. More

anyone interested in Scott Pilgrimm's production should check out Edgar Wright's Myspace blog as he is posting 'a picture a day' charting the production of said film. just today there is some pics of his 'office' with a laptop, Scott Pilgrim books, photocopies of S.P art and various other things. He's in Canada now, so i figure we'll see some cool behind the scenes pics eventually as well. More

Small part
I think Evans' part will be just as small as it is in the book because Edgar Wright is known for putting in well-known actors in smaller parts (Cate Blanchett in a uncredited cameo in Hot Fuzz for example) so I am confident that star power won't take preference over the story. More

Woohoo!
Hopefully this will help towards boosting his profile more so when I tell my non-movie buff mates 'Its got Chris Evans in. Yum!' they will stop giving me odd ball looks. ct that Scott Pilgrim is funny/sweet/cool/charming, and Lucas Lee is an unrepentant and vainglorious dickhead might help matters".ight there made me snigger...which is not good when I'm at work supposibly working on a very dull database instead of sneakily checking Empire.
