Pegg And Frost Join Tintin Simon & Nick are Thomson & Thompson Source: AICN
It hasn't been officially announced as yet, but Ain't It Cool is reporting that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have been cast to star as Thomson and Thompson in Steven Spielberg's Tintin, due out in 2010.
The two detectives, occasionally referred to in the books as brothers despite their differing last names ("Thomson without a P, as in Venezuela" as one of them explained himself), are usually distinguishable solely by the fact that one has a bushy, flared moustache, while the other's moustache is straight. In this case, we're guessing that there could be a couple more distinguishing features, since we're not sure that even the best motion capture technology can make Nick and Simon look identical.
With production imminent, expect to hear this and other casting news confirmed in the not-too-distant future, but in the meantime, let's doff our bowlers to the duo and wish them the best of luck in their efforts to pratfall with panache around the Belgian boy detective.
This is motion capture right? Like Beowulf and Polar Express? Now forgive me if I've got this wrong but Ray Winstone looked NOTHING like his character on screen and neither did Tom Hanks... So what is the point of the whole motion capture thing??? Why cast famous people and then make them look different? If they don't look right, get someone who does. Seems blindingly obvious really.
And while we're at it, can anyone explain the point of motion capture? Why not just do animation....?

Just want to state I still have zero interest in this.
Even if it were directed by James Cameron I would still feel the same.
understand how anyone can get excited about this
Whilst I'm not trying to tell you your opinion. I do get concerned that a lot of might be judging this project on the Tintin cartoon, which imo was kind of awfulooks are wonderful, fantastic adventures that enchanted me in my... Read More

I was huge fan of the books and the animated film adaptions, and I was looking forward to the new film, particularly with Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg being involved, but casting mistakes like this one are killing any interest I had in it.

I don't understand how anyone can get excited about this. ote]
And I don't understand how you can post something like that
If your not interested then move along, but some of us, in fact a lot of us, are fans of the comic and are looking forward to the film
Is that so difficult a concept to grasp?
