State Of Play Trailer Now Online See Crowe and Affleck face off Source: Yahoo
You can tell you're in thriller territory when a crack of thunder, followed by the heavy breathing of a frightened woman, are the sounds that open a trailer. And such is the case with the new State of Play trailer, which takes the much loved BBC mini-series and adds a healthy dollop of action for the big screen.
The film stars Russell Crowe, a reporter who investigates the death of a young woman tied to an old friend, and current politician, played by Ben Affleck. The girl's death seems to point to a bigger conspiracy, but as Crowe's investigation goes further, real danger threatens him and his team.
With Helen Mirren, Rachel McAdams, Jason Bateman, Robin Wright-Penn, Jeff Daniels and the recently Golden Globe-nominated Viola Davis also onboard, Kevin Macdonald directing and a script adapted from Paul Abbot's original by Tony "Michael Clayton" Gilroy, Billy "Shattered Glass" Ray and Matthew Michael " The Kingdom" Carnahan the cast and crew are certainly heavyweight - but can it displace, or even sit alongside, the original series for fans? We'll have to see when it opens here on April 17 next year.
pretty poor trailer, i assume it's because they're hesitant to put any clips in that could give away the many twists and highlights of the story. Looks decent, but not an amazing trailer. I have confidence that the heavyweight cast and crew will at least make something good.

I'm sure this'll be fine but that's a pretty bad trailer. plus it's written by Tony Gilroy, so at least 95% of all the dialogue will take via mobile phone.
this has a great cast though. & it could be Jason Bateman's best work since Teen-wolf Too. ... Read More
Looks like they've amped it up to the nth degree (wasn't she pushed under a train in the TV series? -or am I getting confused with something else? I thought that to begin with it was ambiguous whether she jumped or was pushed -little ambiguity in being shot at close range) when it didn't really need it. I understand that they have to condense the plot given the difference in running time but it looks like a lot of the subtlety has been lost in the process -the original is quietly devastating. Th... It looks like they'v'e turned State of Play - a brillianr brit mini series with John Simm, David Morrisey and Bill Nighy all on tip top form - and turned it into a run of the mill tv movie. What is with Russels hair, I know he doesn't like journalists but please if you're going to play one based on a great original havea bit of respect and not like some Tenacious D fan who's waiting for their next gig to headbang.
Why oh why did the original choice's of the Fight Club reunion Brad Pitt and Edwa... Read More
