| What better way to start the day than with some sumptuously rendered imagery of Earth's most entertaining rodent: the guinea pig. Out of the hutch and in the big bad world, the stars of Hoyt Yeatman's G-Force (not to be confused with the heroes of cult animation Battle Of The Planets) are here revealed in all their fluffy glory. The film - featuring the vocal stylings of Bill Nighy, Will Arnett, Nicolas Cage, Penelope Cruz and Jon Favreau, among others - focuses on a crack group of guinea pig commandos who have been trained as part of a special government initiative. Here are a few interesting facts about guinea pigs: - The guniea pig is sometimes called the Cavy after its scientific name, Cavia porcellus.
- Despite the name they are not pigs and do not come from Guinea.
- Some indigenous South American peoples consider the guinea pig an important part of their culture - especially as a light snack.
- The common guinea pig was first domesticated as early as 5000 BC.
- Queen Elizabeth I had one.
