Exclusive: Kristen Stewart On Joan Jett
The Twilight star on her next role

17 December 2008  |  Written by Helen O'Hara

When we talked to Kristen Stewart recently about her starring role in Twilight, we took a moment to ask her about her next job, starring as rock legend Joan Jett in The Runaways. Here's what she had to say.

"It's so exciting that I can even talk about it now, because I haven't been allowed to for a really long time. It's about the forming and death of this band [The Runaways], and it launched Joan Jett's career and she became the icon for females in rock and roll. It's an absolutely insane concept for me to even think that I'm going to play her, but apparently I got the job so I'm going to give it all I've got."

Floria Sigismondi, an established music video director, has written the screenplay and is directing, with the rest of the band (guitarist Lita Ford, drummer Sandy West, singer-keyboard player Cherie Currie and bassist Jackie Fox) still to be cast.

I hope she can ROCK
Joan Jett and The Pussycats rock. Saw them opening for Motorhead and Alice Cooprer last year in Cardiff and she and the band got everyone jumpoing and rockin straight away. Definately a rock goddess and a role model for those girls who want to get into Rock'n'Roll. Kristen Stweart has got a tough gig doing her justice. I hope she can pull it off. More
