Two More Pics From Inglourious Basterds
New shots of Tarantino's latest

12 December 2008  |  Written by Chris Hewitt

We’ve seen Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raines, but we haven’t yet seen Eli Roth, B.J. Novak, Til Schweiger or any of the rest of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds – but after two new stills showed up online today, we’re getting a hell of a lot closer.

In the first still, a mid-shot of Pitt assessing his troops, we see some of the Basterds – the squad of ultra-hard Jewish soldiers who cause havoc behind enemy lines in Occupied France during WWII – from behind. Usually, we’re good at identifying actors, but we’re not that good, so we’ve no idea who Pitt is eyeballing here. Doesn’t look like Roth… could it be The Office’s Novak? Schweiger? Readers, any ideas? The second still is our first glimpse at the tavern, La Lousiane, that plays a pivotal role in what should be one of the film’s best and most tense scenes. We won’t say too much, but the still shows Diane Kruger, as German movie star Bridget von Hammersmark playing a drinking game with five Nazi soldiers.

So far, so good – Basterds, as you might expect, is one of our most eagerly anticipated movies of 2009, and we can't wait to see Pitt, Kruger and the rest in action at the film's Cannes debut next year.

Does like Vito C. indeed
No, really. I first thought it was an old Brando picture! More

"i'm' going to make you an offer..."
He looks like Vito Corleone - between the younger deniro and older brando version More

And according to IMDB's FAQ
It's not a remake. The two movies have the same English title, but QT's movie is 'something different'. Hopefully that doesn't mean that it's a men-on-a-mission film divided by a bloated conversation scene that dissects the lyrics to 'We'll Meet Again'. More

According to the script...
...Raine was scarred in a failed lynching. Apparently it is never to be mentioned in the film. More

RE: At the risk of being killed ...
L: grucl L: Nicky C I hope IB won't be totally referencial (which seems like a really 90s thing to do) and that QT is moving into a new phase of his work i.e. dropping the references and just telling a good, l story that he made up himselould be braver I think. Since this is a remake you might be in for a disappointment... 2] So is it confirmed that this is a remake of the 70s Italian movie? Or is he just stealing the title? More

At the risk of being killed ...
... I am actually quite bored with QT's self-aware, know-it-all filmmaking. I was watching Jackie Brown the other day (it was on telly) and I was bored shitless. I also don't like Death Proof and Kill Bill has lost its sheen. I hope IB won't be totally referencial (which seems like a really 90s thing to do) and that QT is moving into a new phase of his work i.e. dropping the references and just telling a good, original story that he made up himself. It would be braver I think. More

my eyes are bad but....
is it me, or bad make up... but has Brad been hung up by the neck at some point? just wondering if it will be the QT chapter style structure where we see the oppression before the violent obession and revenge... More

Haha, pitt looks silly
Looks quite old doesn't he? Not Babel old, old-man old. I think they just caught him making a silly face by accident, not at all like the first pic of him. which was quite bad ass. I think its levine to the left, Dunno bout the other. None of the cast are really "ultra-hard" though are they? Sure QT, gobshite that he is, knows his stuff. It'll work out beautifully More

Really, doesn't look a lot like Schweiger or Novak. But in my opinion it could be Samm Levine, although i'm not familiar with HIS back of the head neither.^^ I wonder what this odd looking line on Pitt's neck is meant to be...any suggestions? More
