Wolverine Trailer To Hit On December 12
With The Day The Earth Stood Still

26 November 2008  |  Written by Chris Hewitt  |  Source: Coming Soon

Those lovable rogues over at Comingsoon.net have confirmed that the first trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the first and potentially most lucrative of the X-Men franchise spin-offs, will debut in cinemas on December 12.

That’s the day the earth slows down a bit for The Day The Earth Stood Still, of course, and now the Keanu Reeves sci-fi movie might stand to make a little bit of extra cash from fanboys who’ll line up to see the trailer on the big screen, some time before it shows up online or on TV.

We’re a little surprised, to be honest, that Fox didn’t put the trailer out in front of Australia, which opens in the States this week, but perhaps they didn’t want to confuse and frighten audiences who’d shown up for a spot of Hugh Jackman in romantic lead mode by showing them Hugh Jackman in snarling, stabbing, ‘urgh, argh’ mode.

There are no details yet on what the trailer will actually show, but we can expect: lots of swipey claw action, lots of big hair, lots of Jackman growling dialogue in that unbelievably cool, new-Clint-Eastwood manner of his, lots of action, and first glimpses of Liev Schreiber as Victor Creed and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.

Oh, and for the ladeez, there might even be a shot of Jackman with his shirt off. Again. Honestly, Hugh, put 'em away, you're not impressing anyone. Apart from Helen O'Hara... and every woman we know. Bastard.

So, all in all, pretty darn exciting, then. And, with Wolverine not set to open until May, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to book our tickets for December 12.

RE: Wolvie Trailer
L: Tech_Noir I can't see myself getting excited about this. We already had three films that essentially focused on Wolverine. I'm more interested in a Magneto film. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3sm10EmTe_c i think the magneto film would be more interesting More

RE: Wolvie Trailer
L: James2183 Looks pretty average to me. Gambit seems to feature as much as Sabertooth (which is not a good thing in my eyes) and the effects look very ropey in all honesty. I can only hope that a Deadpool spin off comes from this.   ome on James, I wouldn't expect you to judge a film's effects by its trailer. More

RE: Wolvie Trailer
Edit how we miss you. I think they didn't keep the wrestler guy because there was actually something for the character to do in this one so some acting may be required. In X-men he was just a background thug. More

RE: Wolvie Trailer
L: Frank Castle I think it looked pretty cool apart from the bit where wolvie jumps on the helicopter.        Not sure on the casting for sabertooth why didnt they just keep the guy from x-men?? He was twice the size of liev schreiber i reckon i could take liev schreiber in a fight let alone wolverine?? And there was no scott adkins in the trailer. booooo!!!!! More

RE: Wolvie Trailer
I'll put money on Gambit being in it for a very short amount of time! I found the trailer underwelming, trying to sell on the action rather than story which doesn't interest me really. More

RE: Wolvie Trailer
I'm personally liking the amount of time Gambit is in the trailer (he's my favourite character minus Wovlie).  However, I do think that it's clever marketing by Fox, because of the massive reception of his character at Comic Con, Fox have decided to put Gambit in a lot of the trailer.  I think he'll only be a secondary character, with the Wovlie/Sabretooth backstory being the main plot. LIES.
BOLLOCKS! My mates snuck me into the cinema today just so I could see this trailer and it wasn't there! There was Australia, The Spirit, Yes Man and Twilight. Absolutely no Wolverine. Well disappointed. More
