Beyonce To Be Wonder Woman?
Star eyes up invisible private jet

10 November 2008  |  Written by Emily Phillips  |  Source: LA Times

submit to reddit

Beyonce Knowles is hoping that she could be the new Wonder Woman, having approached DC Comics and Warner Bros. to express her interest in picking up the Lasso of Truth.

In an interview with the LA Times, she revealed:

“I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It’s time for that, right?” said Beyonce. “After doing these roles that were so emotional I was thinking  to myself, ‘OK, I need to be a superhero’. Although, when you think about the psychology of the heroes in the films these days, they are still a lot of work, of course, and emotional. But there’s also an action element that I would enjoy.”

Following last week's presidential election, Beyonce is taking on her own dream, and lets face it, there are few derrières to rival hers for the lauded silky hot pants.

Other reports are eyeing up Terminator: Salvation director McG for the project, but with countless scrapped attempts at a Wonder Woman film already littering the roadside, we won't hold our breath for something concrete any time soon.

Beyonce =HELL NO
ok first off, WTF is wrong with that stupid cracked up whore for thinking she can take on a role such as our beloved wonder woman, does she think just because she's screwing jay-z that the world wants her everywhere, because shes WRONG. she needs to stay away from comics, she is a horrible choice for this movie, and also, THERE IS NO BLACK WONDER WOMAN. Im black and i hate the idea of beyonce doing this movie, im a FAITHFUL comic fan and i dont want my vision of wonder woman to go down the drain More

RE: Wonder Woman casting and other things...
You are right though like you say I can forgive Sam Jackson for being cast as Nick Fury as they are going with the Ultimates version plus the fact that when he was drawn in Ultimates he obviously was based on Jackson and the few scenes he has been in he was a hundred times better than the Hoff .   Another example is Pete Ross in Smallville being played by a black actor and of course the lovely Halle in the dire Catwoman , and I cant swear to this as I have not read any of the book More

Wonder Woman casting and other things...
L: Slinkson Hollywood has a long history of fucking around with characters ethnicity a couple of examples are Micheal Clarke Duncan playing the Kingpin in Daredevil , or Morgan Freeman playing Red in Shawshank Redemption when the character in the book is Irish .linkson, you're not wrong! Another example (more obscure possibly) was re-imagining Alicia Masters in the FF movies as black, and of course Nick Fury in Iron Man, although that was based on the Ultimate Nick Fury comic character (a More

Beyonce should stay well away she is no way a good enough actress to tackle a role like Wonder Woman . A much better choice as someone else has suggested is Megan Fox though she will need to put in some serious gym time or Charisma Carpenter , s More

Fine choice but wrong!
Beyonce, is a sexy lady i'll give her that but she's not right for the part she's a great singer and actually ok at comedy but a full on DC lead i dont think so. If you want someone to play wonder woman i say Katty Perry ( if she bulked up a bit for it) She looks the part and she seems a bit mental perfect for doing a comic book movie. More

RE: Beyonce To Be Wonder Woman?
Remember a few years ago when Charisma Carpenter of Angel/Buffy fame was linked to the role, which was when Joss Weedon was lined up to write/direct. She had the build, looks, flowing dark hair. She fitted the bill as much as any actress then. Problem is she's now 38 and languishing in crap US TV land. More

oh... and how many times must it be said? Eliza Dushku! Though if they want a young Diana, then Summer Glau wouldn't be going far wrong. hmm... though would she be better in other parts? would be good as many of the DC gals would the seasonally monikered Ms. Glau. also, slightly off topic, but Chitwel Eijefor (however it's spelled) would be awesome as John Stewart or, with some weights sessions, possibly Steel (I like the idea of them doing the origin story of the plantation worker forced to More

RE: Beyonce To Be Wonder Woman?
Don't get me wrong, Beyonce is properly fine n'all, but for fucks sake stop fucking around with characters ethnicity. It's one thing to re-jig characters and their storys a little bit, just to bring them up to date but Wonder Woman isn't black, neither is Captain America, just like The Black Panther and Blade aren't white, Dr Strange isn't a woman and The Hulk isn't a midget!   And what's this quote about it being the "right time"?,...What, because America now More

Nay, nay and thrice nay. the reasons are too numerous to list.. plus, as much as yes, plenty of super herose would work just as well regardles, Wonder Woman is an amazon from ancient greece. how many black ancient greek dieties can anyone name? none. I'm sorry, but its just the layout of the world back then and therefore how the character must be. Though before anyone starts mouthing off, i'd be just as up in arms if Steel were to be cast as a white guy, or Storm were white. (storm /could/ work. More

absolutely NOT!!!!!
Beyonce is no amazon! There has to be a better choice of a tall, strong, dark haired beauty to play Diana. She's not a good actress, she can't act her way out of a paper bag. That would be about the worst thing that Warner and DC could ever do! More

Ugh!
No and no again. Plus I don’t think it would work off well as a motion picture, maybe for TV but not for the big screen. Plus she ain’t an actress and not a good one at that, plus what the hell is it with rock stars, rap stars and so on taking to the big screen? 50cent, like come the f**k on! More

NAAAAAHHHHH....
Halle Berry's Catwoman anyone? I don't think any red bloodied male would kick Beyonce out of bed - (I know I wouldn't!) - but if Warner Brothers are still serious about going ahead with a Wonder Woman film - get that buxom bird from George Millers' thankfully debunked Justice League Movie. She actually looks like Diana Prince!!! Get the look right folks - and that's half the battle won.... More

RE: Wonder Not
Some harsh reactions here. hough I agree she can't be wonder woman. Why would she even be considered. Pretty sad when big name and talented actors such as Christain Bale, Robert Downey Jr and Ed Norton are tackling major male lead roles in comic book adaptations Wonder Woman is getting lumped with Beyonce.   More

Shes a deeply medicore actress....thats as simple as it is. If she/Jessica Alba/Simpson/any other crappy rom-com actress plays this role, count me out. thanks. Wonderwoman is a commanding/elegant/beautiful woman who doesnt look out of place facing up to a 6 foot 4 Superman...so count out most of the people you are thinking of cus im not sure there is a famous actress out there who could pull that off.
