Exclusive: New Star Trek Images
Exclusive stills of Kirk, Spock & Uhura

28 October 2008  |  Written by James Dyer

They do say you can't get too much of a good thing so, to go with our exclusive shoot of Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine, we now bring you three exclusive new stills straight from the USS Enterprise.

Lifted from the new issue of the magazine (on sale on Thursday, click here to subscribe!), the first image shows off the majesty of Spock standing in front of the iconic Enterprise viewscreen. The second image, featuring Kirk in an armoured EVA suit, makes the good captain look less like a Starfleet officer and more like an extra from Unreal Tournament but who are we to complain? The final image shows Zoe Saldana as Uhura, complete with retro sixties go-go dress. What's not to love?

For the fully skinny on Abrams' Star Trek, pick up the latest issue of Empire magazine when it hits shelves on Thursday.

To boldly go...
in search of some charisma, hopefully. Chris Pine's presence in these images is schoolboyishly flaccid. Quinto looks terrible on a cover, but actually quite something on the still, but that may be exacerbated by the composition of the shot. Ever since Usual Suspects though, Singer's gone downhill - his directorial attempt at House's pilot was abysmal, saved only by the writing and casting of the show. More

RE: Screeeeeech.... BOOM!
The Original Series has been something every single series that followed it has gone back and put a touchstone "homage" episode in line with whenever it needed a ratings boost. The Next Generation did it with "Relics" by having Scotty on the show and letting him wander a (partial) TOS Enterprise bridge. DS9 did it with "Trials & Tribble-ations (horrible title, great episode.) Voyager did it (sort of) with "Flashback", where we saw Captain Sulu circa TOS movie era. Enterprise did it (sort of) wi More

RE: Better late than never...
I should point out that I'm a BIG Star Trek fan (being a geek man) but all my female friends HATE Star Trek (which is why I think they should of toned down the "cartoony" 60's uniforms). I personally preferred the uniforms from the 1st "Motion Picture" film. They should of done "Batman Begins" and "Casino Royale" i.e. re-boot from scratch. More

RE: Better late than never!
Yeah, I can see it now: "Star Trek? Hey, what's that? I've never heard of that all my life! I have no opinion about it whatsoever! Oh? What's that? It's going for flash and bang over intellectualism now? You say it'll have a woman with gigantic breasts in a skintight catsuit, and lots of spaceships covered in neon frippery? Appeals to the lowest common denominator, you say? Well, why didn't you say so?! THAT'S worth seeing!" More

What's the point?
This is supposed to be a story about the familiar characters' past... if you don't want the "cartoony" uniforms, if you want want the classic ship -- all of which went into making Star Trek what it was -- why are you even making (directed to the producers) or thinking about watching (directed to the "fans" who apparently don't actually like ANYTHING about the original Star Trek) this movie? Other than pure jaded, cynical greed and cold indifference to anything other than t More

Ok let me re-phrase...
in the other forum post about the promo pics I slated the make up look of Zachary Quinto as Spock...but seeing these images kinda makes me realise that the film will certainly be damn good...Spock is looking good but seriously shame about the uniforms... More

Better late than never!
Yep, Empire has only been a week late in showing photos from the new Star Trek film. I guess the Empire editorial team pissed off Paramount in the past (or vice versa)! I am disappointed that J.J. Abrams have kept the 60's "cartoony" uniforms - it reminds me of Thunderbirds and Speed Racer films (both box-office flops). Hopefully, an awesome trailer will appeal to Non-Trekkers to turn up and watch the film. More

Love the Spock images from the film...
BUT, I hate all the promo Spock images. They look like shots of make-up experiments with the ears, eyebrows and wig. That said, can't wait for this... More
