Palahniuk's Haunted Headed To Screen Chuck's back with a tale of survival Source: Variety
After the success of Fight Club and the more muted response to Choke, another Chuck Palahniuk novel is headed for the screen, with Haunted getting its turn.
The story follows 17 individuals chosen to go to a secret writer's retreat. They are taken to an abandoned theatre, and locked in with enough food, water and facilities to last for three months, at the end of which time they're expected to have finished a story. The only problem is that the supplies start to run out , and life in the theatre starts to get very difficult indeed.
Belgian director Koen Mortier (Ex Drummer) has been lined up to adapt and direct the film, but there are no details yet on any cast or a starting date. Let's hope, however, that the very cinematic Haunted does get made, and not stuck in development hell with other Palahniuk works like Invisible Monsters and Survivor.
it's taken me 18 months to block out the swimming pool part, now I have to re live it on the big screen????

I thought the book was terrific but I'm concerned as to how well they'll be able to translate for the screen. Admittedly much of the book's appeal was its shock factor which I'm sure will have to dumbed down for the film. Worth a try though and if it all goes tits up we've still got the book to fall back on. ... Read More
This could really work if they approach it right - i.e. follow Short Cuts as the model of how best to film short stories, only with added extreme masturbation techniques and self mutilation. My worry is that some of it so obviously visual that the film-makers won't bother to give enough thought to translating it into a coherent movie. ... Read More
Haven't read this one yet but I plan to soon, would have loved to see Lullaby being made. As bove me Charlie Kaufman would be the ideal man however I'd get Terry Gilliam to direct and Johnny Depp in the lead role if not him then maybe Ed Norton. ... Read More
Spike Jonze / Charlie Kaufman should do Lullaby with Bill Murray in the lead. If anyone could adapt such a weird horror-comedy it's those guys. ... Read More
this is his worst book that i've read, it's still pretty good but somewhat lacking, but i don't see how this is going to become a good film, all the little individual stories...how many will make it in? in what form will they feature?
I've got big doubts about this being pulled off tbh. ... Read More
...Im a massive fan of Palahkiuns stuff but gotta say, this and Diary were pretty weak compared with what he's done before. Much rather see Invisible Monsters as a movie, hollywood'd never have the balls for Lullaby. ... Read More
Although I enjoyed Haunted, I don't think it would work that well as a film. I hope I am proved wrong and maybe thay can get back to making some of his better titles like Invisible Monsters or even Lullaby! ... Read More
