Inglourious Basterds Has Begun Shooting
Yes, that is how they’re spelling it!

15 October 2008  |  Written by Glen Ferris  |  Source: Slash Film

Quentin Tarantino may know a thing or two about making movies but it seems like the poor fella’s lacking in spelling skills if the official title of his long-gestating World War II project is anything to go by.

Inglourious Basterds (not Inglorious Bastards as we were previously led to believe) may have started principal photography but nobody seems to have pointed out the typo. Much like the early screenplay that leaked onto the internet a few months back, it seems the galling moniker is an attempt to distance itself from the 1978 Enzo Castellari film which inspired QT.

To coincide with the start of shooting, The Weinstein Company has issued a press release. New additions to the cast list include Omar Doom and Michael Bacall (from Death Proof) and Julie Dreyfus (Sophie Fatale from Kill Bill).

L: Taz69 And how cool is any movie with someone called Omar Doom in it - sounds like a pornstar supervillain. ounds like a cross between Omar from ervel's Doctor Doom... and as it's Tarantino, I wouldn't be surprised if that's exactly where he got the name from. More

Brad Pitt. Tarantino. Mike Myers. World War II. Jewish scalping parties!?? Now I'm the first to admit that Tarantino ain't been doing what he should be these years (but who has, you know.... Did anyone see Miami Vice? Uh.. how about The Terminal and Indy 4? Youth Without bloody pretentious Youth!!?? Everyone has a bad decade, you know... But Pitt, Tarantino, Myers in a war movie... that's just big fat sweaty hairy balls that is, right there. Go get em lads! More

It's about Motha Ficking time
Hows that for a typo. I been looking forward to this for years (I think he announced it first when doing the press junkets for Jackie Brown). World War 2 as been done to death but it hasn't had the Tarrantino touch yet And how cool is any movie with someone called Omar Doom in it - sounds like a pornstar supervillain. More

Lets just see....
The films actual title is "Inglorious Bastards"... but the group of Jewish American Soldiers the film is based on were called 'The Basterds' due to the way they scalped and brutally killed Nazis. And with a cast list of: Brad Pitt, Mike myers, Eli Roth and Diane Kruger lets not just dismiss the idea that it might be worth a watch. More

GOING TO SUCK !
Who cares. After the piece of shit, that passed as a moooovie, that was Deathproof, its clear that QT has lost it. He has become a caricature of himself. Every time I see his smug face now I just want to take a samurai sword to it and chop it clean of. Then make him eat it. He'll go the same way as that other charlatan, Shyamalan. More

RE: Erm..
That wasn't official, I don't think. I'm pretty sure it's intentional, maybe a reference to how the characters in the film may have spelt it due to lack of education. I don't know, I didn't read the script. More

If we're making up our own spellings. I prefer Inglorious Basturds. Than they can make a special edition of those funny sculptures that look like turds and give them pun names e.g. Brad Shitt and Squiten Tarantino and George Pooney (yes I know he's not in it but I'm running out of ideas) More

RE: oh oh
L: Knight of Fury and Omar Doom has the best name ever! sp; No argument here. But I don't think the film will be up to much. QT hasn't done anything for me since Jackie Brown. He's stuck in a rut of referencing other, often better, movies. More

Basterds
Either a typo, a way round overly p.c. censors or a 'private' joke we're not privvy to yet. Geddit? 'Private'? Because it's about people in the army? Uurgh. Anyway, fuck what it's called or how it's spelt, the film is going to be class. I can't wait! More
