Annaud To Direct Kashmir Jean-Jacques hunts terrorists Source: Variety
We suspect that Jean-Jacques Annaud kinda likes mountains. The director of The Bear and Seven Years in Tibet is headed for high altitudes again with Kashmir, a terrorism themed drama set in the titular Kashmir region.
The film concerns three ex-mercenaries, who learn where a terrorist leader with a $30 million bounty on his head (let's call him Osama) is going to be for a short period of time. They decide to brave a trip into the volatile Kashmir region, between India and Pakistan, but they each have a different motive for taking the journey, and as the going gets tough, their loyalties are tested.
DB Weiss wrote the script (he's now working on the I Am Legend prequel) and is set to go scouting locations with Annaud, who wants to shoot as close to Kashmir as possible, although the producers are prudently also scouting in Argentina, Mexico and other areas of India for alternatives. Filming is due to begin in late spring.
