| After the sci-fi shenanigans of last year’s Sunshine, Danny Boyle is returning to the kind of whimsical comedy/dramas that he likes to knock out every couple of years.
In the spirit of A Life Less Ordinary and Millions, Slumdog Millionaire is shaping up to be a right old heart-warmer as it tells the tale of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai who somehow finds himself just one question away from winning 20 million rupees on India’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Accused of cheating (after all how could a street kid have such a talent for trivia retention?), Jamal is arrested and forced to unravel the story of his poverty-stricken life, adventures on the road and encounters with people good and bad, while attempting to get back in time to win the jackpot and the heart of his one-true love.
