Nispel's remake of TTCM was fucking tripe, Zombie's Halloween was ok, but at least the guy's got balls and isn't just another commercials hack trying make good in film. On a serious point, yes all films are there to make money, but the seemingly endless rehash of horror films from the last 30 years is sadly where Hollywood is going - stuck like a crappy LP on remake, reimagine, revisit, reboot, re-fuck off! | PARASITES!!!! |
These people really should be ashamed of themselves for taking the easy option and going for remakes and unneccessary updates. It just proves that they can't come up with an original idea between them and that the idea was probably conceived after a 'drunken' night out, ie. 2 Coronas and a (shared) shot of tequila.
They seem to think that 'older' films - particularly horror films - are there to rape and pillage as they see fit.
I'd really like to know what our film critics think of these para More

This remake madness has to stop, NOW!! There is nothing , nothing
wrong with Poltergeist and the only reason this is being remade is purely
for money. and why would Speilberg let this happen ?The original is pretty much his
movie anyway. We, the movie going public have to stop these remakes by not going
to see them!! More

Chances are though the remake will just be an excuse to update the special effects and restart the franchise $$$.
adly, very true. The studio's just taking a punt in the hope of a payday. I can't see the writers of Boogeyman being the artistic talent capable of reimagining one of the 80's most iconic horror movies, though.
What with this and the proposed Bill Hicks biopic, its a bad news day. More

Why? Why? Oh Why? While i didn't think the scary was that scary, the film is a classic just because it tells the story. And who do they get to follow the Genius that is Spielberg with the dosey shites that scribed Boogeyman!
I'm not against making remakes (The Thing, The Fly, Oceans Eleven all great remakes) but why dont Movie Makers consult critics or fans regarding remakes. Some film definately deserve a remake, such as Clash of the Titans and Highlander, but that's because they CAN be made b More

| RE: LAZY WHORES |
I know this will upset some people but I never found Poltergiest very scary, it comes across more like a showcase for ILM at the time. The sequel was much better I thought, especially the creepy dude who follows Carol-anne everywhere. And the first one didnt have that cool Indian guy. Dont forget the Dawn of the Dead remake which was comparable to the original.

Ugh. Let me get this straight. MGM is taking two writers, whose biggest credit is the steamy pile of shit BOOGEYMAN, and having them remake a classic film that was co-written by Spielberg, directed by Tobe Hooper and starred Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams. Am I reading this right?
Why doesn't MGM save themselves some time and money and simply mail a nicely wrapped turd to every moviegoer who would consider paying to see this crapfest. More

I'm surprised Spielberg doesn't have a say in this. The project was pretty close to his heart at the time (he wrote it, and essentially directed it by proxy, so the story goes), so I'd have thought he'd be able to nix any prospective remake. Anyway, cunningmunki is right, this'll be shite and quickly forgotten. More
