RZA To Direct Man With The Iron Fist
Roth and Tarantino coach Wu Tang star

His name may sound as though a few letters are missing, but don't underestimate RZA. Robert Diggs, as he is also known, is de facto leader of the Wu Tang hip hop supergroup, and a music producer, rapper and occasional actor. And now he's about to add some more feathers to that already well-feathered cap, with the news that he is writing and directing martial arts film The Man With The Iron Fist.

RZA's developing the film with Eli Roth, but has also apparently spent the last several years studying directing at the knee of Quentin Tarantino. He already has an apparently encyclopaedic knowledge of martial arts films, and has worked on a number of film soundtracks in recent years, having composed music for everything from Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai to Kill Bill to the upcoming Babylon AD. He also worked on Soul Plane, but let's not blame him for that.

Nothing's known about the plot yet, but Roth told our mates at CHUD that it would have "everything martial arts fans could want", and that "there will be blood". Combined with (we're going out on a limb here) a pretty kick-ass soundtrack, this could be a real treat for kung fu fans.

RE: RZA To Direct Man With The Iron Fist
"Choose the sword... and you join me. Choose the ball... and you join your mother, in death." This man knows more about nimble oriental fellows in black suits and daps than any other. "I'm going to chop off your arm, so are you ready?" More

"He's got a Mutha F**kin' RPG?!? In his backpack?!"
The RZA was also responsible for the music behind the excellence that was Afro Samurai (a martial arts masterpiece you seem to have left off your list). If you haven't seen it, i suggest you 'check yurself' and ammend this oversight. It's got Samuel L. Jackson in it. 'Nuff said. Well i could go on to say that it also has the excellent Ron Perlman in it, not to mention the delicious Kelly Hu, but that would be 'More Said... I'll shut up now M.M.M! More

I remember seeing a clip of one of the Wu Tang Clan (I think it was RZA himself) directing a scene for a seemingly unreleased period martial arts film starring the original Iron Monkey, Chen Kuan Tai, on one of their "Wu Tang Clan presents..." releases. That was a few years ago though. I'd like to hear more about this new project. More

Iron Fist?
Erm. I think Marvel may see their arse seeing as they already have a property lined up to be movifacated about a kick-arse kung-fu dude called The Immortal Iron Fist. Bit pornographic sounding, mind. More
