I know folks are entitled to thier opinion but how can anyone think the US ending is better than the UK one?

I got this out on rental when it was first released so i assume this was the UK version but she makes it out alive and by the sounds of it that only happened in the US version, does anybody know what version we got over here because i'm well confused??? Also where can you get the uncut version from? More

| Hate the Descent |
I so disappointed by the Descent. i know Neil marshall is a friend to the critcis but you'd pumped his film up so much I was expecting wonderful things. in fact it was a poor film at best and not in the least bit scary.
Monsters that can't see, hear (screaming girls) or distinguish between a rock and someones head are just laughable.
Descent 2 is going to be rubbish (as was Doomsday by the way!). More

I don't understand this - in both edits she DOES NOT DIE. While it might be suggested that she's proper fucked and down there until she falls asleep and starts snoring, and quickly turned to scran, she could still get out there from the UK cut.
My beef with this is Marshall not being in the director's chair, could turn out proper wank if they get some novice fekker. First one was mind-bastard wreckingly superb, and anyone who says different should be banned from a film forum and More

THe ending where she escapes, drives into a tree etc and then wakes up led on the floor in th cave chatting to her dead daughter is the Good ole Blighty version. when in the final scene you see her run off with a dimming torch. The bad ole Johnny Foreigner version is nowhere as near as good and ends when she stares up at the pile of bones and escapes from what i can remember. The protagonist didn't die on screen even in the British version of the film, so they have license to get her out. The quality of the writing will determine how probable it all seems./align]Perhaps the escape ]the real ending, and the change back to the cave was just a dream. it looked to me like she'd suffered a bit of a head injury, and was just slumped there like in that massive cave not attempting to do anything. i thought it was pretty conclusive that there was pretty much no coming back from it. especially since we'd already had the dream sequence, kidding us that she'd escaped. to have her actually escape would ruin the whole ending.

No she didn't. She passed out, daydreamed that he had escaped, woke up as she heard the screams of the cave creatures and carried on crawling through the cave as the camera pans back. The inference being that she's all alone, no chance of escape and will inevitably die down there but leaving it ambiguous enough that there is a very small chance of her escaping.....
