Terminator 4 Story Details Released
And Charlotte Gainsbourg is Kate Connor

With shooting now underway on the first of McG's new Terminator franchise, titled Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, Warner Bros has issued a press release that reveals an overview of the plot, as well as a couple of new names in the cast. The plot synopsis is as follows:

"In the highly anticipated new installment of "The Terminator" film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind."

All fairly vague, yes, but this is only a start of shooting announcement. The release also goes on to reveal that Charlotte Gainsbourg (The Science of Sleep) will play Kate Connor, John Connor's wife who was previously played by Claire Danes; and that Jadagrace will a play a character named Star. We have no idea who Jadagrace is and can't find any mention of an actress or singer (she sounds like a singer) with that name anywhere. That is unless she's the daughter of rugby player Wally Lewis. But that would be weird because she's only two months old and probably really not up to the action scenes just yet.

HYPOCRITES
You haven't even seen the bloody film yet but you bash it. Who cares that Arnie isn't in it. Terminator 3 was less then decent and that had him in it. Give them a chance to try something different. More

Robocop V Terminator instead...
The T4 movie producers missed a big opportunity in not buying the rights to "Robocop" a few years ago. I'm a big fan of the Frank Miller/Walt Simonson comic mini-series (too many bots in the last issue) and it would of made a terrific film. More

That sounds like ten different kinds of turd
How's this for a movie: someone gets sent back from a nightmarish future where Terminator: Salvation exists and fights to stop them making it. I'd pay good money to see that. More

RE: RE:
3 letters McG!  Roughly translated as this will probably suck like all his other movies, although I will try to have an open mind about it as he directed the first episode od "Chuck" which is a great show.  As Bale is in it I will try not to be too negative but McG makes me itch like that time I had to go to the nob doctor after sleeping with that girl who was flagging down cars near town that one time. I am a fan of T3 as well.   Surprised to see that the Kate Brewster character is actully going to be in this. I had thought she wasn't going to appear in this timeline or been killed off betweenn films. More

RE: mcleod_69_69_69 Why do people always say that T3 was rubbish? It was an excellent actioner (the car chase in particular was top notch), the story was good (especially with the unexpected twist at the end), and Arnie did a great job in what was his last big film. More

purplexing...
I don't know what to make of it really. There is a chance to make a decent story set in the future war but whether McG will be up for it is another matter, although I liked Charlie's Angels (for all the wrong reasons). Also I don't know what all the fuzz is for Christian Bale, sure he was great as Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan's take on Batman. Although Reign of Fire and Equilibrium had their moments they were a bit naf, and in the Prestige he just adopted the same brooding character he ha More

RE:
As far I know James Cameron gave up anything to do with the Terminator series when the 3rd rubbish film came out. He has nothing to do with this new trilogy. But he did write sum episodes for the Sarah Connor Chronicles. Brolin is only rumored to be a Terminator, he is not attached as of yet. Actors make mistakes, just because Bale has done so good film in the last few years doesn't mean he is always going to be in a good film. I say give the rains to someone who knows sci-fi not a music video More

RE: This has got a high chance of being awful.
L: magnusbarfod And it's not going to be the casts fault, and I'll even cut McG some slack. The problem is it's rating. It' being shot for a PG-13, which instantly means it's going to have no balls. No balls at all... 'm not sure about that. PG-13 means less gore, sex and swearing - not that it doesn't have balls. Plus, they could get away with a lot more shit these days, the Bourne movies are PG-13, and you can't accuse them of not having balls. More

TERMINATOR sounded cool when it was a little lo-fi thing about a robot sent back in time to kill some dude. But, it's hardly appropriate given the scale of this trilogy. I mean, there will be TERMINATORS in it, but I'm guessing they won't be the exact central focus? Sky Net will be, surely? Of course, the TERROR of moving even remotely from the original, blockbusting title would be marketing suicide. More

Hang on isnt James Cameron (who I still dislike for no good rational reason!) attached this in some capacity? I can understand the concerns about MCG but people like Bale and Brolin are not going to attach themselves to a stinker AND everyone thought the Batman films were dead and buried and now look at them?! Rubbish
I can't help but think that this is gonna be on par with Terminator 3 rather that the first two films. I can't see how Warner can justify giving this project to MCG. He has made only three films before and two of them were Charlie's Angels. So all I ca imagine is alot of slow-motion and shoots of the Terminator's arse. James Cameron left these films alone for a reason, they are finished. I personally couldn't care about a future Terminator world, I saw all I needed to see in the first two films. More

Odd
I thought Christian Bale's role in this movie was going to be very limited with a bigger part in the next two installments?! By the sound of that plot synopsis, he'll have the main role. Fingers crossed it's at least good fun and a return to form! More
