Jackson And Del Toro Host Hobbit Chat
Director and producer talk Tolkien

15 May 2008  |  Written by Glen Ferris  |  Source: Weta

If you’re like us, you’ve probably got a lot of questions about the upcoming Hobbit films - Who’s going to be in it? How is it going to look? What’s the story with the two movies? You know the kind of thing…

Well, now we’re getting the chance to have those burning issues extinguished by the dream team of Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro with the news that they are to host a live internet chat about The Hobbit.

In their own words, “Peter and Guillermo would love to answer your questions and hear your comments about our new adventure into Middle-Earth.”

The web chat is scheduled to last for an hour from 9pm on Saturday, May 24 (that’s London time) and you’ll have to register in advance.

Click here for more information from the mouth of Weta.

The Hobbit is expected to hit cinemas in 2010 followed by its sequel in 2011.

Once again, two beards are coming together
One directing and the other - a director himself - producing. History repeats itself, but this is the age of the Mexi-Kiwi alliance of Men and the Hobbit will rule like a certain ring. But I am damn curious about the second movie. I'd love a Magnolia. But with Hobbits. More

You've got to at least admire his balls; even if the second film draws from the book's appendices Jackson is still basically writing his own Tolkien, which to the legions of devoted fanboys must be on a par with scripting your own sequel to the bible. More

RE: Read the book
Have read it ,and not that much happens that would warrant a film. Perhaps they'll go back to some of the earlier stories. More

Read the book!!!!
Well, OK, perhaps not the whole thing, but give yourself 10 minutes in Waterstones and check the appendices of LOTR, where you will find a fairly detailed account of the main 'happenings' between the end of The Hobbit, and the beginning of Fellowship. I would assume, and hope, that these notes will form the basic plot of the second film, and THAT is the question I will be submitting to the boys! More
