First Official Pic From Twilight
We occasionaly get emails from readers asking why we haven't covered a particular film or news story. Often it's because we haven't run a pirated or leaked trailer – we don't do that, boo piracy! – but recently we've had a number of furious questioning missives asking why we've run nothing on the movie Twilight.

The short answer is: it's not a project that had particular recognition for us and the recently released featurettes wouldn't play for users outside the US, so we couldn't watch them. But now we realise that there are a lot of people who are really excited by this movie. So, we know that those people will be very keen to see the first official cast photo from the film, which Cinematical has here (the previous photos were leaked tests).

For those, like us, to whom Twilight is an unknown quantity, the film is based on a very successful series of horror-romance novels by Stephanie Meyer. They tell of Bella Swan, a teenage girl who moves to Washington with her mother and her mother's new husband and finds herself drawn to a mysterious boy, as teenage girls are wont to do. Turns out he's a vampire, but a 'vegetarian' one who only drinks animal blood. They get the warm and squishies for each other and team-up to thwart a band of evil vampires who want to sup of Bella's neck.

The film is being directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen) and features a cast including Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory from Harry Potter) and Nikki Reed. Recently it's become one of the most searched films on IMDb, despite the lack of big names, so this could be absolutely enormous.

Please rest assured readers. We will report on any major Twilight news from now on. So please desist in the angry emails. They're mean.

I'd just like to point out that Bella does not move with her mother and stepfather; she moves to Forks to live with her father. Someone had said that Bella is moving to get over the break up of her family. Not necessicarily true because her parents had been divorced for quite some time. That's explained in the novel if you read it. Otherwise, thank you for writing this article and I hope to hear more from you guys. :] ... Read More

Twilight
The books are really really amazing, i recommend them to anyone who will listen. But in all honesty, the film does look a bit crap. I think it will be like the harry potter films - the books and the films are like two seperate things. but anyway, i'm going to go and see it when it's out. you never know, it might be good :D ... Read More

RE: RE:
I have read the books - which are very much for teenagers - and I'm an ageing 30. Oh the shame. Let me tell you now: everything in the story is cliché, and all the adolescent hormones floating around, well... But I tore my way through those books, I was completely hooked! It was only afterwards that I kinda went, "yeah, it's 100% cliché..." ha! I love the books but acknowledge their flaws - sometimes I just want to slap Bella - but for me they were an excellent read, and they're great... Read More

RE:
L: ashmeeeeee and to whoever said "vampires should be scary" then you don't know anything about these. READ THE BOOK before you talk SH*T. read the first 2 books and there's exactly one scene where the vampires seem scary. Most of the time they are just irrationally and annoyingly angsty with lamest blood lust ever (it feels like somebody on a low carbs diet craving after a cinnamon bun). ... Read More
