Resurrection At Universal
Comic book adaptation gets underway

28 April 2008  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Another day, another comic book adaptation, but that's no bad thing. And Marc Guggenheim's Resurrection, just optioned by Universal, is not your typical comic adaptation, with narry a scrap of Lycra in sight and not a cape to be seen.

This is a story set following an alien invasion of Earth, after the large-scale threat has been averted and the aliens have left. But is the planet really safe? What brought the war, which had raged for years, to an end? And, as President Bartlet would no doubt ask, what's next? The few survivors of humanity have to figure out how to rebuild and regroup amid the devastation.

There's no writer, director or cast attached to this project yet, but for anyone who wondered what happened after Jeff and Will finished their cigars in Independence Day, or after Tom Jones finished singing It's Not Unusual in Mars Attacks!, this could be the perfect film.

Your Comments

Seriously, after Persepolis, American Splendor, History of Violence, Men in Black, Ghost World and a bunch of others, do we really need the "not your typical comic adaptation, with narry a scrap of Lycra in sight and not a cape to be seen." tag? More

This sounds very promising. I think it has the potential to be quite dark and moody, which would be a break from most of the upbeat comic adaptions we've seen. More
